We welcome everyone at the library, and we aim to provide spaces where everyone feels safe, respected, and supported. Following recent immigration enforcement activity in Ypsilanti, we want to make sure our community understands our library policies:

For decades the Right has daydreamed about saving their country from monsters, they finally got the chance and it turns out they love the monsters. The monsters are even monstrous in the exact ways they fantasized about! You never have to listen to these guys about anything again

there's this new dynamic where the DOJ cannot win in court and is (relatedly) incapable of meeting the minimum threshold of professional legal conduct, and so an increasing percentage of its actions are purely for intimidation and content

I keep seeing posts going "when ICE comes to MY city, we'll be out in the streets even harder" and man, I get that sentiment but I need everyone to understand that the work in Minneapolis is partly confrontational but MORE IMPORTANTLY aaallll the stuff organized in the background to help neighbors

ICE is upset that ICE isn't welcome in restaurants after ICE ordered food at a restaurant, ate it, then arrested restaurant employees, and ICE believes this is someone else's fault, do I have that right?

It’s driving me a little insane to see all this “protester” lingo.
Like yea there are protests..

But if masked, armed thugs invade your neighborhood and terrorize your community, standing against that is not “protesting”.

That’s an attempt to maintain safety. The government made itself the danger.

There are people with principled takes on the 2nd Amendment, like the 1st.

But if you ever believed that the American Right broadly supported 2nd Amendment rights, as opposed to rights for people who agreed with them, you are a fool.

Support if you're able and share if you're local. Thanks.

Ditto (well, not the mini-cooper part.)
Well-sourced reports suggest ICE is camping out at school bus stops in Ypsilanti and snatching parents.

I have a Mini Cooper with all-weather tires and I’m willing to go through some training.
Ypsilanti Community Schools reports that ICE is targeting YCS schools.

It is even more imperative that MI pass legislation protecting schools, courthouses and places of worship (SBs 508-510). People shouldn't be afraid of facing violence from untrained, reckless, and unaccountable federal agents.
