US claims over Russian frozen assets amount to just US$5bn, or 1.5% of global total
• Data show how US plans to grab US$300bn in Russian assets for US firms and government's benefit make no sense
• Belgium holds the bulk of Russian assets (through Euroclear), giving EU leverage in US-Russia talks

Here now a brief summary of the key ideas in our paper:
1.) US trade policy has historically been eclectic. At most times, it has combined liberal and protectionist elements.
2.) The international trade system has developed resilience to US departures from liberal commitments.
Very happy that my paper on the future of US trade policy, co-authored with Alessia Invernizzi, is part of this special issue
Our online special issue, The Future of Global Governance and World Order, is out!

It features 15 short essays plus the editors' introduction, all #OpenAccess.

Vietnamese food has a concept I don't often see in western cuisine - "ngán."
It's translated as being bored but applies when your palate is dulled by the sameness in texture, taste.
We want our food to hit different notes. A bánh mì is simultaneously soft and crunchy, spicy and cool, fatty and sour.

It's fun to say the constitution gives the federal government jurisdiction over infrastructure that crosses provincial borders.

I imagine it's a bit harder to say that provinces have no say over infrastructure projects that run through their territory.

The EU v Colombia dispute over frozen chips was the first to use ad hoc appeal-by-arbitration instead of the blocked WTO Appellate Body.

It has now become the first such case to have a ruling adopted by WTO members. What, if anything, does it mean?

Abraham, a physician who is not board certified in any specialty & has made a career as an extremely partisan politician, is now #2 at CDC.

Despite working full time in political office, he is one of the top prescribers of ivermectin & he oversaw the end of Louisiana’s public vaccination campaigns.
BREAKING via @jeremyfaust.bsky.social: The CDC's internal email server now lists Louisiana physician Ralph Lee Abraham, MD, as the agency's principal deputy director -- "an irresponsible choice," according to one public health expert.
