Since I'm getting a lot of new follows

LET IT BE KNOWN THAT

- I do not follow back automatically unless we're already friends
- empty accounts do not get a follow you gotta use your acct
- more likely to follow a stranger who I have positive interactions with
Fiiiinally. I am free. Lucy can be the strongest again.

I have no idea why some nights at 2am when I am checking the weather on my phone it says it is good for running and sometimes it says it is poor for running and first of all who the fuck is going for a run at 2am

Man, the print is so big in the Ann Leckie trade paperback editions they could have been mass market instead LOL

(Sorry, I just like my books to take up less space where reasonable and I hate how trade paperbacks dominate where mass market used to be standard)

Well, it’s been virtually the only game I played for the last 5 years, but this means fuck you and bye, Fortnite.
SO... I'm pretty much done with Fortnite. There were statements made by Tim Sweeney saying that AI usage doesn't need to be disclosed, and then AI usage was found all over this current season- from art to sprays to in-game songs. Between that, and the upcoming shitty wizard collab... Yeah, I'm done.

The option on online food ordering services that allow you to look at your previous orders and reorder the exact same thing again as last time in three clicks, is genuinely more helpful functionality than any LLM-powered offering.

I can't quite figure out if everything in HBR is just too long/too many words or if it's that we're on some kind of accelerated schedule in EN for it so everything is coming at us faster than it rolled out in jp

Thinking about this more: there's lots of good roller bags that are designed to fit on their side longways in the overhead bin, but every so often some jerk has one of those hard case ones that won't fit like that and takes up like 3-4 bags worth of space and THEY should have to check those.
A perfect example of capitalist incentives leading to worse outcomes is checked baggage on planes.

To squeeze more money out of passengers, airlines now charge exorbitant fees for checked bags – so everyone brings carry-on rollers instead, so there’s never enough room in the overhead bins.

One of the best worldbuilding guides you can read is Tolkien's notes on translation, where he talks about the fact that *everything* you write is in practice being translated into English; is is no more anachronistic to use the word "September" than it is use the word "sword" or "house" or "hello".
Not sure how I feel when a book tells me that instead of "12 months" they have "10 arcs," which are each 40 days long, and they all have names like Blossomarc, Flamearc Snowarc,.... I appreciate the world building, but couldnt we have just kept the calendar the same?

Spent quite some time trying to answer the question "how many translators does it take to put up a Christmas tree" today, but turns out the answer is heavily dependent on if you count everyone going "ooop. ooooh. nooooooo" in the background or just the ones yelling "CAN I PUT IT DOWN YET PLEASE"

Someone who bought a frog facts advent calendar for a friend's kid last year just emailed me.

Apparently that kid got a different advent calendar this year, and when he opened it he said, “These are HORRIBLE! They’re not teaching me anything about frogs!”

This kid gets it.
