It's critical for everyone to remember what an Executive Order is. It is the President communicating orders to members of the executive branch. Policies to pursue, actions to take, etc. They are not laws. They are not close to being laws. They are formalized memos to employees. That's all.

FABRIC SHOPPING ALERT! Share far and wide!

Liesl Gibson has made a running list of *online* fabric stores. With Joann's closing, this will leave an arts desert for a lot of folks or worse, only leave stores that actively lobby against us. #sewing #sewist #sewsky

You know where you can go and not worry about breaking the economic blackout today?

Your local library! All those books and you won’t spend a penny!

Tomorrow, February 28, let’s disrupt the status quo by spending ONLY at businesses that uplift our communities.

That means:
🚫 No gas from corporate giants
🚫 No fast food chains
🚫 No big-box retailers (Target, Walmart, Amazon, etc.)

I love seeing it happen in Portland.
It may not be cool or hip in some circles, but we legitimately do need a massive amount of people to run for office.

Flood the school boards, councils, county seats, state legislatures, Congress, etc.

Big changes at the top happen when the ground shifts at the bottom. And that can start now.

I just had a TriMet operator pull over past a stop so I could jump on board. In the middle of traffic on Couch. These small acts of kindness remind me of why we keep going and fighting and looking out for each other.

I know others have raised the alarm on this, but I’m calling it now:

Amazon is making this change so they can easily redact, restrict, and otherwise censor LGBTQIA+ books that were acceptable a year ago, but are likely to become outlawed in the US very soon

Amazon’s killing a feature that let you download and backup Kindle books
It’s bad if you like to keep ebook backup copies.

If you want to be in community, make it happen. I have a puzzle club, a sewing community, and a blossoming knitting world. And it fills me beyond words. I hope it's what carries me through the fight ahead.
Organizing something small and chill and not political on the surface is how to build community and talk to people, which are the two things we need most to do any type of other action. Make a children's book club, truly anything counts.
Organizing is the way forward

If you've never personally participated in organizing, now is the time to start. Do something smaller, lower stakes, to start with. Organize a block party or neighborhood activity, charity bake sale. Crucially, learn to organize alongside people you do not know well.
