The Reagan Admin had the record for the most indictments, arrests, and convictions of cabinet agency personnel across his two terms, right up until the first Trump Admin blew that out of the water.

Yes! This is the crux of our entire parenting strategy. My wife and I are old first time parents (50 and we have a young elementary age kid) so we're still part of Gen X and our whole philosophy has been "look at how whiny and assholish our generation ended up, so lets not make another asshole"
Aside from the world changing, the answer to "why don't people make their kids do things that sucked ass" is that people figured out that things sucked ass and don't want to inflict that on their kids.

All of what follows is true. I’ve been appalled for over ten years now, and surely that’s part of the equation as well: every day brings a new assault on basic human dignity and decency. After all this time it’s exhausting and hard to be surprised at the same time. *sigh*
Trump’s cold, vile and narcissistic response to the deaths of Rob and Michele Reimer is horrendous yet I’m honestly baffled how *this* is the last straw for so many including Trump supporters.

There is possibly no clearer evidence of how American society has been bent to conservatives' whims than regarding gun violence. Our country's gun laws are flatly insane, and there has been no meaningful momentum for serious reform in years.
Each semester I go in my classroom and I try to figure out what we would use to block the doors, if it would be safe to crawl out the windows, where we could hide if there was a mass shooter in campus. It’s such an indictment of this country how we have normalized these preventable tragedies.
