For an authoritarian, getting troops on the streets is not an end in itself. They are supposed to impose *control* on a society, using force to engineer compliance with government dictates.

For an authoritarian, getting troops on the streets is not an end in itself. They are supposed to impose *control* on a society, using force to engineer compliance with government dictates.

You can probably measure Donald Trump's day to day change in level of acute fascism (as opposed to chronic fascism, which is always high) by how many short notice press calls I get. Today's impromptu TV complete with business on the top party on the bottom outfit is about insurrection act threats.
