So, Massachusetts' @repauchincloss.bsky.social is a member of the Congressional Equality Caucus, but he's joining with a Republican booster of #KOSA to start a new caucus for "Kids Online Safety", i.e., hand power to Donald Trump's FTC to decide what's safe for kids to read.
How exactly does a kids online safety bill threaten queer and trans culture on the internet? Harvard Cyberlaw expert @esqueer.net breaks it down.

One of the worst aspects of the Commission's final report is a call for universities to prohibit boycotts against countries.

The aim is obviously to prohibit boycotts of Israel. But the same language would also prohibit boycotts of Russia over Ukraine invasion, or of South Africa over apartheid.
The MA Antisemitism Commission has approved its final report conflating Judaism with Zionism.

We respond: "The Commission has done more to fuel rising authoritarianism and antisemitism than to create the conditions that promote Jewish safety"

@edmarkey.bsky.social if you really want to support trans people, start by withdrawing support for dangerous censorship Bills like the Kids Online Safety Act.

KOSA is a Trojan Horse- promising ‘safety' when it will actually harm LGTBQ kids by blocking life-saving resources online.
This Transgender Awareness Week, we come together to celebrate the resilience and bravery of the transgender community in the face of relentless attacks.

My message to you is simple:

I am with you. I love you. I will never stop fighting for you.

@paultaske.bsky.social Rahaeli of Dreamsky suggested that you're a good person to reach out to. The Virginia social-media bill is on my radar as one of many things to worry about.
I'm a co-moderator for a Lemmy instance, and I'd be happy to sign a thing saying that I can't tell whether SB854 applies to us or not! Anyone can "Populate a public list of other users with whom such user shares a social connection" by making a post saying that some other users are their friends!

“I promise you, NCOSE would gleefully move to silence many RIAA-label supported artists, claiming their music is "obscene" and must be stopped. It would be nice if artists on RIAA labels spoke up about how they feel about the RIAA supporting NCOSE's attacks on speech.”
Excuse me what? The RIAA is now funding NCOSE to file bullshit amicus briefs before the Supreme Court?!?

That is way more fucked up than even usual RIAA nonsense.

Please do not assume this cannot happen. Please call, get your friends and family to call. Please.
now that the govt shutdown is over, y'all will need to really yell and scream about these bills because many of them are going to be pushed again.

tell your representatives to OPPOSE these shitty policies!

Dear @chrismurphyct.bsky.social: I get the impulse to keep young people away from chatbots. Really, I do! I've been critical of the "AI" industry perhaps longer than anyone in Washington. But the GUARD Act is so badly drafted that it could apply to how Google search worked in 2005, or ELIZA in 1967

OK, it looks like most of the amicus briefs are in (some after the technical deadline). Not all are viewable yet. I'm guessing 2 are in favor of Massachusetts (Common Sense Media & co., and the Attorneys General)

Is anyone other than @techfreedom.org filing an amicus brief in Commonwealth of Massachusetts v. Meta (SJC-13747)? It looks like there's 1 week before the deadline. As a MA resident, I'd cosign a brief urging the Court not to create a regulatory regime that Meta can survive but small sites can't
