Few cities need tenacious local journalism more than Washington does right now, given the ravages of the Trump years and the threat to home rule. Given that Jeff Bezos has now destroyed the Washington Post, it's up to journalism funders to help strengthen sites like the 51st and incubate new ones.

"It's our blood and bones and these whistles and phones against Miller and Noem's dirty lies."
I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

Good to see Mario Cristobal has Miami playing old school Miami football. He just needs a bit more attention to cheap shots, targeting and late hits, which seemed to be the main strategy against IU. Go Hoosiers!

If he'd been savvy and not a moral coward, Bill Cassidy would be celebrated tonight as the guy who stood up to Trump and saved public health, and sacrificed his Senate seat to do the right thing. But, instead, he'll just be remembered as a cowardly loser with a lot of blood on his hands.

At a moment like this, you just have to be grateful that CBS News loves America without apology.

A biting critique of Big Philanthropy and local news.

"These funders — including the American Journalism Project, which drove the creation of Houston Landing — have increasingly been picking the winners and losers in American journalism, with no consequences when their calls go badly wrong."

Did Alabama do any offensive preparation for this game? If so, it’s not yet apparent.

Just a friendly reminder as we go into the holidays:

Folks don't have to explain to you why they don't drink.

If you offer them a drink and they decline, don't ask them why. It's not your business.

Just offer them something without alcohol to drink instead. And move on.

It really mystifies me why presumably intelligent people at Florida and LSU think if they hire Lane Kiffin, his teams would play any semblance of defense.

The inability to tackle by the Ole Miss defense is really remarkable. It may be the only thing Kiffin teaches on defense.

As one of those kids who paid out-of-state tuition many moons ago to go to the #IU Journalism School and a former IDS managing editor, this whole thing is just heartbreaking for the student journalists impacted and humiliating for the university. Thanks to those who put this letter together.

The White House also has called for significant cuts in #WIC in the new budget. Presumably this means they are pulling that back and either keeping full funding or adding additional money. Otherwise, this would seem to be just a political stunt, which I know the Trump White House would never do.

Note that the original House GOP budget proposal for what would become the “big, beautiful bill” included cuts to WIC which would’ve resulted in $1.3 billion in fruit and vegetable benefits being taken from some 5.2 million women and children who participate in the program

If you think Trump deploying troops in American cities is nothing more than an opportunity to pivot to a completely different subject, you do not belong in Democratic leadership.
The Trump administration’s threat to deploy troops in Portland is unlawful.

Here’s a thought.

Focus on protecting the healthcare of the American people.

The news side is still the Post
doing important work. The editorial side is not the Post any more but an odious embarrassment.
This is Washpost Opinion's takeaway from Trump's speech at the Charlie Kirk funeral.

No mention of him saying, "I hate my opponent." No mention of Trump's role in fomenting the January 6 riot.

Just unbelievable how bad that editorial board has become.

About this Florida vaccine story:

When they were little - 1 yr and 3 1/2 - my two older boys, who’d had all their shots, got whooping cough.

We asked their pediatrician what would’ve happened if they hadn’t been vaccinated.

“Oh, they’d have died.”
