they are extremely impressive birds! there are probably about a dozen who frequent our place, and we are forever appreciative of their hard work taking down our dead pine trees without hurting anything. i'm still hoping ivory billed woodpeckers will reappear around here

the feds need to get a grip. in my state, you would be legally allowed to shoot them if they were doing this. ill-advised as that would be, i wish more people would use their castle doctrine rights against these pigs
