They need to introduce the wallaby's natural predator. Drunk Ozzies night shooting at them from the back of 4x4s with headlamps.

I spent time this week at a CS systems workshop. There was a lot of discussion about the importance of negative results in CS systems, and how they don't get published.

A guy gets thrown into prison. Every day, he tries escaping in a different way. After a month of failures, his cellmate says "None of this works. I've tried it all before". The guy asks why he didn't say anything, and the cellmate responds "you can't publish negative results"

Amazing how many people are confused as to why software engineering grads have such high unemployment rates in the last few years.
No, it's not because people are writing code in AI. It's because a massive amount of capital is going on hardware, rather than software, for the first time in decades.

Stunned at this painting, "Men of the West". If you didn't know it was from Ireland in 1915, you could mistake it for a 1960s cowboy movie poster.

Wow. This is something I didn't realise we needed laws against: people using AI bots to influence people against their will, for other people's benefit.
You might say this is what social media marketing is about. I'd agree. Maybe that also needs tight regulation to avoid psychological damage.

Ok, hear me out..."Wormnado".
"Worms on a Plane" ?
A remake of 1988's classic "Slugs", set in Ontario ?
"Predator vs. Worms", where their cool knife things just make more of them ?
Oh, wait! "Cocaine Worm" where these little wrigglers go nuts.
Anything to convince me this story is made up.

I remember being driven through Stillorgan as a child, and the council were building a wall from granite blocks. The same council was building a wall near my school in Summerhill...with poured concrete. I asked Dad and he laughed. He said "no one in Summerhill plays golf with the city manager".
Really excellent points by @garygannontd.bsky.social here. I live right where he’s talking about and the level of neglect is palpable. Good enough for us feral northsiders seems to be the prevailing attitude: garygannontd.substack.com/p/its-just-a...

It's a 520k build price tag for a 2bed apt that is the problem. Not getting a loan.
