The trads are mad at me for pointing out that Trent isn't saying what they think it's saying

Rewatched ROTJ two days ago
It’s fascinating in that unlike the first two movies, but like the first two prequels, it’s almost two or three mini movies stitched together as one

the action sequences are great in themselves but I think can get excessive

honestly the fact that this Sunday is a green Sunday in the old rite makes it feel even more apocalyptic

which feels really suitable for the Sunday immediately before Advent

Thus says the LORD of hosts:

In those days ten people from nations of every language will take hold, yes, will take hold of the cloak of every Judahite and say, “Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.”

Ps 41,2
Beátus, qui intéllegit de egéno,
in die mala liberábit eum Dóminus.

Dichoso el que cuida del pobre;
en el día aciago lo pondrá a salvo el Señor.

Blessed is he who has concern for the poor.
In time of trouble, the LORD will rescue him.

Trump: so if I recite this 'shahada' and implement a bunch of social programs, I get into heaven?

Mamdani: that's right, Mr. President

Trump: and when do I get one of those cool rugs? I always thought those looked neat. like rolling out a little red carpet for yourself every few hours

when S. Paul VI spoke of the "smoke of Satan", he meant, among other things, the entirety of the OCP/GIA hymn repertoire

whoever sings these songs, even well, prays half as much

I think this gets at big questions abt what liturgical aggiornamento and ressourcement are abt but it just seems obvious to me that it clearly isn't solely abt taste
Tra lec sollecitudine, Musicam sacram, Mediator Dei, Sacrosanctum concilium, Missale Romanum, Laudis canticis, etc all make big claims
Brother the premise that there's a "best liturgy" is literally the problem

my reform of the reform is celebrating diocesan councils according to the auncient Roman ritval as frequently as possible, and pax bredes, and frequent singings of the office (in which the Laudate psalms will be again appointed at Lauds), and svrpliced choirs

and lots of money to fund all this
Your reform of the reform is adding altar rails and fiddlebacks to the current rite

My reform of the reform is expanding the dewfall-on-the-Trastevere anaphora to name Oscar Romero, Gustavo Gutierrez, Hans Küng, Annibale Bugnini and Paul VI, and restore infant communion

We are not the same
reform of the reform but it's adding a communicantes of leftcath patron saints to EP 2

How can we rejoice in the Lord if he is far away? He is not far away! If he is, that is your doing. Love, and he will draw near; love, and he will dwell within you. The Lord is at hand; have no anxiety. Do you want to know how he will be with you if you love him? God is caritas.

It’s not a Rutger, but there should be a term for getting more penalty yards than either rushing or passing yards. Can we call it a Sparty? We didn’t get there this year but it was close

My $0.02 on the liturgical reform: it was well-meaning... but based on disastrous pedagogical assumptions (that ironically both patronized and overexalted the capacities of the laity), and ended up too beholden to specific scholars' petty hobbyhorses, so it ended up a mangled, compromised mess

And I'd add, since this is a personal hobbyhorse... deciding to chuck the entire tradition and remake it from scratch, essentially bankrupted the flourishing liturgical publications industry. They literally had to pulp warehouses' worth of missals, breviaries and other books gone obsolete overnight.

Mass at the Basilica of Our Lady for St Francis Day.
Pilgrims from St Paul the Apostle and St Therese the Little Flower parishes in Corpus Christi were present.
I made my First Communion at St Paul’s, and grew up in that parish til I entered the seminary. I am very grateful to that community.

no: good men create good men, who create good times, because and goodness only lasts as long as people are in fact being good; weak men destroy any kind of time with their weakness because they’re weak.

adversity makes a lot of people weaker and more foolish, not good.
