I know a few people who've shifted from like 3 hrs/day on tiktok to like 1 hr/day on tiktok and 2 hrs/day reading/listening to romantasy booktok books and it is truly so much better

I can't even imagine how fast the driver must have been going or what they could possibly have been doing. this is a stroad that's had a pretty hardcore road diet applied to it in the past few years, including dotting it with these highly visible & lighted islands.

thank God it didn't look like any pedestrians were injured, but on my lunch I saw an SUV that had been driven up onto a pedestrian island and crashed into the signs so hard the entire front of the car was caved in. lol. lmao

years ago a little girl - an elementary schooler - was killed crossing at a marked crossing that had lights and a pedestrian island. the consensus was the driver was not at fault bc he was going the speed limit and the lights were yellow yield lights rather than red stop lights.

the only way to bike or walk defensively-enough to stop drivers from ignoring laws, right-of-way, lane demarcations, lights, and speed limits and hitting you, would be to only enter the road when there are no cars present at all

It is quite a deliberate choice to allow an editorial in a church bulletin that defends Christopher Columbus (if transparency it wasn’t the pastor himself).

It’s even more of an interesting choice when that editorial does so by paraphrasing Tony Soprano.

the amount of training it takes to be able to react calmly and safely in a firefight without worsening things is absolutely enormous. it is not something that can be achieved by hobbyists at the gun range or rifle club. amateurs wielding guns are dangerous no matter their ideology or identity
