Apparently most people have settled here away from the Bird Site so here I am. Expect mostly horses, cats, food, and sight-seeing. Not talking politics for a while if I can help it.
I hate rolling starts. Why was that a rolling start? #F1

I actually don't disagree that the Rosetta Stone could stay in London. But this article's justifications for it are AWFUL.

The Rosetta Stone does not belong in Egypt
It was inevitable that the Grand Egyptian Museum outside Cairo would accompany its much-delayed opening with demands for the restitution of several of the most famous objects that have survived from t...

This is just to say

I have beheld
the works
that you left
in the desert

At which
you were probably
hoping
I would despair

Forgive me
your legs were mighty
so vast
and trunkless
Once upon a desert sandy
As through winds the trav'ling man he
Spied the face of Ozymandy
Lying, simply lying there
Suddenly there was some writing
Pon the plinth that he was sighting
That the sand and time were blighting
Quoth the statue, "Now despair"
There was an old man you could gaze
At his works in despair in a daze
If you looked upon them
And were mere mortal men
'Ozymandias mighty', it says

Coffee and the wee tiniest bitesize delicacies from Dulcis, followed by book shopping, one for him, one for me. Guess which book is mine 😜

My long-suffering husband ♥️ took me to the Fitzwilliam Museum to the Made in Ancient Egypt exhibition. And then endured me explaining things to him. He is a good man.

I knew he was The One when he survived two hours in the British Museum with me a month into dating 😅

In better sporting news, what a day of #horseracing. Calandagan sealing his place as a top horse in Europe, Kalpana maintaining her crown, a 2yo race with 3 geldings finishing in the top 3, and two big-priced winners in Cicero's Gift (100-1 in the QE2) and Powerful Glory (200-1 in the Sprint).

Jeezus, McLaren, when I spent all afternoon joking about another lap 1 contact I didn't MEAN it.

If Max wins the championship this year because Lando and Oscar keep throwing their cars into each other I'm gonna be so mad.

Introduce yourself using only one food you refuse to eat, one movie you'll never watch again, and one song you can't stand.

:: Radiohead's entire discography, I'm sorry, something about it just sets me on edge

What’s the word where you’re from that, when pronounced exactly as it looks, identifies a tourist immediately?

Do people not already do this? My list currently includes Akhenaten, Ay, Horemheb, Richard III, Napoleon, and Plato because I hold him responsible for the whole Atlantis obsession.
Everyone should do this. Pick some random, long dead historical fecker and get really into the hating of them. Planning to go and spit on their grave levels of loathing. Any Roman emperor would suffice nicely.

Most of the internet used to be like this. This is actually the default, it took companies enclosing the internet and adding weird, soul-killing incentives to make people behave the way they do now. In a way, there is truly nothing special about Wikipedia except that it survived longer.
“Wikipedia is this economic anomaly. In many ways, it’s sort of magical that people will just volunteer without explicit economic incentives to create artifacts that are meant to share knowledge with everyone in the world”

Early morning riding lesson in 28°C heat the day after a blood donation? Not the smartest move I've ever made.

If anyone needs me I'll be necking rehydration drinks in front of a fan for the rest of the day.

Ons, why do you insist on hurting me?? 😭
(I hope she's ok, I only ever want that lovely woman to do and be well)

Also, how do any of them play in this heat? 🥵

With the global climate right now, I encourage people to treat your space on social media like a home, or a garden. One that makes you happy, and is a space where you can invite your neighbors over to. Be happy, and keep the happiness of others in your heart and mind always.

I have now had eight riding lessons. But this week I was on a prissy princess of an ex-polo horse who hates the steps, so I, all 175lbs of me, had to get LEGGED UP. Onto a 16hh2 horse. By my teeny tiny instructor. It was clumsy and ungainly, but I DID IT.

I am ridiculously proud 😅

Regular reminder:
"May you live in interesting times" is not a blessing but a curse.
Which I fear most of us understand all too well.

So dear people: "May you live in boring, calm, quiet times".

It's also not Chinese or ancient:

Ok, on reading the article I mostly agree with it. You shouldn't be allowed to buy or sell human remains AT ALL and they certainly shouldn't be used for artistic purposes. But mummies and other preserved bodies are genuinely of historical interest (and would absolutely be on display in Egypt).
