I'm gonna add to this that the Dems had ZERO to do with the Bovino firing. It was the tireless work of the good people of MSP standing strong, filming and writing the news with their first hand accounts. The press tried to both sides it. They WANTED to. But the citizens of Minnesota ended this guy
The more I think about it, the more I’m convinced the Democrats have to push their hand immediately. The parallels with the delays and subsequent failures after January 6th are blaring warning signs about what will happen if they don’t go after the issues with ICE and CBP at the root RIGHT NOW.

The biggest risk in this moment is something sociologists call “symbolic compliance.”

That’s when an institution that is violating civil rights gives the public just enough symbolic victories that accountability efforts lose steam before there has been any meaningful change.

Would I like to watch the new Star Trek Academy series as a momentary escape? Yes.

But I refuse to subscribe to the Ellison-controlled Paramount+ service, so I will have to make do with the one free episode and wait until my local public library has the series on DVD.

Please read. And please forward to people who have asked this question. A quick, clear, and common sense explanation. "Libraries exist for a simple but profound reason: to ensure that everyone, regardless of income, background, belief, or zip code, has access to information, ideas, and stories."
Anyone ever say to you when you're talking about banned books some version of, "Well if you want the book, just buy it!" The Freedom to Read Project broke down exactly why that argument doesn't stand up to scrutiny:
What the Library Is For and Why “Just Buy the Book” Gets It Exactly Backwards
Libraries exist to guarantee equal access to ideas; telling families to buy books themselves undermines equity, choice, trust, and opportunity.

As a non-gun person, who agrees with the OP that America's gun laws are "nuts," I found this thread informative.
I'm going to say a couple of things about Alex Pretti's handgun, that I don't think people who do not shoot will initially understand.

This photo was almost immediately distributed by the feds. I think that doing so was, for them and their attempt to whitewash the murder, a *huge* error.

A major newspaper publishing guide to help people identify the munitions their government is using against them is a real "Late Republic America" timepeice that future historians will comment on.
Here's how to identify some crowd control munitions, canisters of which federal agents have left on the ground after deploying them against people in Minnesota. bit.ly/3YWp1jE

The people of Minnesota have executed one of the most impressive civil resistance campaigns I can remember:

- Organized a city wide general strike
- Maintained nonviolent discipline amidst violence
- Mobilized 10,000s in subzero temps to protest and watch ICE
- Flipped public opinion against ICE

ME: Oh. Thanks for reminding me, Bree. (Takes two minutes of my life to donate). Right, back to pretending for a living.
Did you miss out on your last opportunity to bankroll the fully stocked pop-up leftist supply depot?? Do you want to send free hand warmers, winter gear, first aid supplies, YOU NAME IT, to the Twin Cities?

This is your moment. Let's ride.

New in PN: The regime's mind-bending lies are a tactic

"The VP told them they could kill anyone who annoyed them. Pretti annoyed them. So they killed him. Now the lies Bovino and Noem are telling about Pretti’s death are intended to encourage further extrajudicial executions and likely will do so."

It seems like even Trump & co. realize they fucked up with two successive murders of innocent white people in MN. Of course, they are completely incapable of admitting fault, so they're going to double-down on racism and blaming brown people, especially Somalis, for causing this. Don't let them.

All politicians do performative acts of service.

Some choose to do pull-ups with soldiers while calling them "war fighters" and ignoring all of their worth and value other than hate and killing.

Some choose to participate in homeless sweeps, and revel in throwing away what little people have left.

Folks outside the US who want to find a way to help, this is a good start.
Advocate for your nations to boycott the World Cup and the Olympics. Do not travel here. Get your pension funds to sell their US treasury bonds. Boycott American products. USA big businesses needs to understand the cost of propping up this despotic regime.

Abolish ICE, prosecute and imprison its leaders, impeach and remove the President from office. This is the only sane reaction to a group of armed men kidnapping and gunning down our neighbors in the street.
As tens of thousands across America protest the violence that ICE sows with impunity, federal agents shot and killed another person in Minneapolis today.

ICE terrorizes our cities. ICE puts us all in danger. Abolish ICE.

Let's be perfectly clear: every single Republican in Congress who allows this to continue without removing this president and prosecuting these lawless ICE murderers, is declaring their allegiance to a tyrant, and themselves enemies of the very Constitution they swore to defend.

This is nothing less than violent mob extortion by the Trump regime of a state that voted against Trump three times and exposes any so-called concern about immigration issues in Minnesota as a lie.
Pam Bondi just sent a letter to Minnesota officials saying ICE will leave if the state turns over its voter database to Trump.

Guess what? This has never been about safety or immigration. It’s a pretext for Trump to take over elections in swing states.

I don't use Tetris myself, but do have a match-3 renovation game on my phone for such situations. It does help me.
