My blog post with the National Council on Public History is out!!!!

I think my exploration of social media as a historical medium and method is worth reading. It might give people something to think about that they haven't considered before ❤️

I get it. Making thoughtful ALT text takes time. As does scheduling posts. I really don't think folks realize how much work doing something like this actually takes. Sites like Buffer help with scheduling. But they don't offer much in terms of ALT support

I genuinely believe that despite the efforts of so many folks, instances of sexual, domestic, and every other form of violence have skyrocketed. And it is in part because people don't listen (as you pointed out). Its far easier to ignore than it is to do something about it

You're the actual best. Finding and reposting all these posts/events is incredibly time-consuming. Promoting them is also quite a bit of labor that I don't think folks always recognize. Thank you for taking up this part of the fight. Every little bit helps in the face of intersectional oppression ❤️

And we are taught to ignore abuse if the survivor is of a certain class, gender, sexual orientation, racial identity, ability, age, etc.

This epidemic is exacerbated b/c we aren't taught to recognize abuse. Femiciders are respected community members with the social, cultural, and monetary capital to get away with their crimes. We are taught to tolerate inexcusable behaviour b/c of money, looks, and prominence.

We are in the middle of a global DV & femicide epidemic b/c of intersectional patriarchy. Colonial, classed, ableist, racist, whorephobic patriarchy feels entitled to certain bodies. It dictates the right to life and security. No more.

(1/10) Second incoming rant. I used to watch the original Proud Family (2001-2005) as a kid. I recently came across a review of the Hip Hop Helicopter episode, and what should come as a surprise to no one, I have thoughts.

(1/2) October 15 is #NationalLatinXHIVAIDSAwarenessDay. I’ll repeat what I say for all HIV/AIDS awareness days (of which there are many): anti-HIV/AIDS stigma is intersectional. It connects to racism(s), sexism, ableism, ageism, colonialism, classism, and whorephobia.
The Sex Work Historian National LatinX HIV/AIDS Awareness Day infographic. The image is of a red ribbon (the symbol for HIV/AIDS) with the image of the Earth in dark blue as the background. The image also has the Sex Work Historian logo (a grey peach) and a red umbrella (the international symbol for sex workers’ rights).
