When participating in risky activities, what does safety look like - especially in the context of disability and chronic illness? How can we communicate with our partners to reduce the risk of injury while staying responsible for our own choices?

On Bi Visibility Day, remember that flocks of bisexuals may move through your yard. Putting out iced mochas and a picture of David Bowie can help draw them to a feeder.

If you see bisexuals sitting all askew on your lawn furniture, do not be alarmed. They're not injured. That's just how they do.

Who does it benefit denying that #SexWorkIsRealWork?
Who does it protect to criminalize #SexWork?

[Pssst... the answer to both questions is ""no one.""]

Boundaries: Limits one sets to maintain one’s dignity and sense of self. #Boundaries can be consciously stated rules such as, “No sex without a condom,” or, “No appointments after midnight,” or an unstated, internal limit that is only known once it’s been breached.

See ourselves and our communities reflected in adult entertainment, showing that we're deserving of a happy, healthy sexuality, is why we do what we do.
It’s sad that the discussion around pornography is always framed as “it’s potentially harmful.” It’s also potentially healthy? What did you learn about yourself, your body, your gender, your preferences, your boundaries and your self expression through the smut you consume?

Who, exactly, is harmed by paying for sex?
What, exactly, is wrong with sex as a job?

in my first for @thedailybeast.bsky.social, I wrote about sex workers’ getting detained by border patrol & how the idea of “artificial intelligence” gets weaponized to obscure & even justify the sexual harassment, stalking, & racism endemic throughout the tech industry
AI Is Detaining Sex Workers at the Border—and You’re Next
Facial ID is being used to detain and ban sex workers from entering the country—and it’s a harbinger of a rapidly encroaching surveillance state fueled by artificial intelligence.

You don’t give up personhood when you sell sex.
You don't give up citizenship when you sell sex.
You don't give up bodily autonomy when you sell sex.
You don't give up dignity when you sell sex.
You don't give up humanity when you sell sex.

Important info!

Some folks wondered why BlueSky stopped all service to Mississippi because of their age verification law, but they didn't stop service in other states/countries with age verification laws.

This is why. The MS law is for all social media content, not just "adult" content.
The Mississippi law requires social media age-verification — in addition to porn. The state argued that the precedent set in FSC v. Paxton gives it the power to require AV for just about anything online that a minor might see.

So many people thought a law about “porn” wouldn’t affect them.

Unfortunately, Bluesky is unavailable in Mississippi right now, due to a new state law that requires age verification for all users.

While intended for child safety, we think this law poses broader challenges & creates significant barriers that limit free speech & harm smaller platforms like ours.

We've seen this play out in the U.S. and around the world. Legal models can leave behind migrant workers, people who work out of their homes, people who work together, people who can't get jobs in legal brothels because of hiring policies or arrest records.

We want all sex workers to be safe!
