It’s comforting to see politicians in the same age bracket as me.
An honor to get momos with our Mayor-elect today! 🥟🗽🌹

#TeamNoSleep
A busy first day as your Mayor-elect: early morning interviews, transition announcements and meetings. More to say on all of it tomorrow.

But a highlight was lunch with my Congresswoman @aoc.bsky.social at Laliguras Bistro in Jackson Heights.

Reminder that Luke Little has a career stat line in the majors of…

35.1 IP, 2.80 ERA, 29% K, 66% GB, .607 OPS

… and his numbers in Triple-A this year were also outstanding:

59.2 IP, 2.87 ERA, 30% K, 57% GB, .578 OPS

What if a US health plan mirrored Canada's public benefits?
We tried to design one: The "USA-Medicare Core" plan.
✅ $0 Deductible
✅ $0 Copay for Doctor Visits
✅ $0 Copay for Hospital Stays
❌ BUT... no Rx, dental, or vision coverage (just like Canada's core public system)

On a political side of things, I am watching the NYC mayoral race with intrigue…

Also, is the current situation in our country an indictment of our legal system? Trump continues to violate rulings and laws, and there is no repercussions.

Not a big “Gavin” guy, but he is right:

Where are the dems?

Cubs need to add to this group offensively.

Way too much variance how currently constructed, especially moving on from Tucker.

Very interesting offseason ahead, but I am worried it will be quiet and uneventful.

So Shota Imanaga is a free agent. I am a bit shocked, but I am wondering if there is confidence in Steele coming back by Opening Day? Lots of lefties then in the rotation with little room for additions.

Still feels odd. He was THE GUY for 1 and a half seasons for us.

Mike forever.

This is embarrassing.

As @brett-taylor.bsky.social has said, this contract has turned into a STEAL based on the new revenue numbers that Shohei generates annually.
The Cubs Were Reportedly Unwilling to Structure a Shohei Ohtani Contract the Same Way the Dodgers Did

Stream of consciousness:

Politics and religion are weird. I have heard folks say we have become sensitive in those topics because we were raised “not to talk about them.”

I think that’s a cop out. I think we have gotten poor at listening, and potentially learned how racist and unfair systems are.

Dear baseball fans:

The Dodgers operate how every team could operate. Owners choose not to.

Shohei Ohtani is the best player on the planet and they want to surround him with talent.

Otherwise your are the Angels.
Ohtani this postseason: 1.182 OPS
Every other Dodger: .682 OPS

(.239/.317/.365)

I know everyone's going to lose their minds when LA signs anyone at all this winter, but the outfield was poor all season, and the lineup has been pretty bad all month. It's a problem for them.

It should go without saying that these mass internment camps will be much, much more expensive to operate than just giving the homeless free or subsidized housing would be.
Under Trump, the draconian future of homelessness policy is coming into focus: mass internment. Utah is building a 16-acre site to detain up to 1,300 homeless people inside locked "accountability centers." This is profoundly alarming.

Yesterday, a parent described to my wife how they cannot get family to come to their 3 year old son’s birthday party because a few members have been taken by ICE and they fear they are next.

It was heartbreaking. A few other parents said they can’t watch the news because it’s too much.

I’m not sure if I can ever get over the idea that our markets set record numbers in a period with the greatest income inequality we have ever seen while on the verge of SNAP funding stopping and Obamacare premiums nearly doubling.

On top of approaching 2M layoffs in a calendar year.

I am also confirming my interest in Dylan Cease.

I have wondered about his ability to replace Tucker’s Power production at a potentially lower cost.

However, I don’t see the Cubs being interested in a full-time DH as well.

For those not from around here: St. Cloud is just *full* not only of Trumpists, but of virulent, violent racist Trumpists. Everyone at that rally knows they’re in a minority and that they might be in danger. Look how many came anyway.

We can win this.

The No Kings March in Chicago is one of the largest gatherings I’ve seen here. Looking down from by the river, the crowd stretches for blocks down Michigan Ave and wraps around Wacker Dr. This video is from a few minutes ago and the end of the protest is nowhere in sight.
