I’d really like to see a supercut of Mike Johnson denying knowledge of things. It’d be very long.
I don't understand why U.S. reporters so regularly seem to let politicians get away with 'I haven't seen that' about stuff a) they obviously know and b) is directly relevant to their job. Did they sign some kind of agreement never to ask a follow-up question?
REPORTER: We know the president moved forward with mass layoffs. We're also learning there were significant cuts to staff at special education services. Are you comfortable with those cuts?

MIKE JOHNSON: I haven't seen the specifics of that and I don't know

Please join me in praying for my city's only synagogue, Congregation Beth Israel, which was set on fire in the early morning hours, yesterday.
Nobody was hurt and a suspect has been caught and charged with arson, but not much is public. Beth Israel is part of JXN's long tradition of racial justice.

At Boston government center right now, next to the federal building. There are thousands of people gathered here in a massive crowd around the speakers against ICE.

A helicopter is circling lower than usual.

Small visible police presence.

The agent responds, "Have you all not learned from the past couple of days?"

"Learned what?" she asks

The decision has been made to break an American city. It is an experiment. We must do all we can (legally) to help Minneapolis hold on.
if you want to know what it is like in minneapolis, I don’t even have to scroll on facebook to find a horror story. it’s basically my whole feed.

everyone i know in minneapolis is seeing ICE take people—at gas stations, taquerias, bus stops, schools. just snatching random people.

The hardest part is accepting that this damage is permanent. The sense of shared community is broken, maybe beyond repair in our lifetime. People we spent years rejecting have power, & the resentment they’re unleashing is changing us all. I’m having a hard time with that. I know I’m not alone.
