This is precisely what polling places were like for part of the 19th century.

People often traveled long distances by horse to vote. It was a big deal when folks got together this way.

What they are doing to trust in our society is the most evil thing.
CCTV footage appears to show DHS agents posing as people having car trouble in order to lure a target out of his house before arresting them. The target comes out and starts helping them before 3 vehicles surround the scene. The car "experiencing" trouble then drives off with them.

Excellent thread.
I know Kevin knows this, but the explanation for this is clear: It's racism. Racism and xenophobia and misogyny.

A white native-born American, living in the parts of the country where white native-born men still hold disproportionate power, is the only fully "real" American in the eyes of many.
It really is amazing how much of political punditry, *especially* elite outfits in NYC and Washington, still embrace this bizarre idea that rural spaces represent the "Real America" while metropolitan areas, where most (presumably real) Americans actually live, should be held in contempt.

The last thing we posted before the ban was an explainer of today’s article about GEO Group getting on to WEXMAC TITUS.

Insight: Courts have ruled 4,400 times that ICE jailed people illegally. It hasn’t stopped.

Fun fact: the best stats available suggest that the unemployment rate for US trans people is comparable to the Great Depression.

Another fun fact: the best stats available aren’t very good because the Bureau of Labor Statistics had never bothered to measure the trans unemployment rate.
there is an employment crisis among trans women and there always has been, but good luck getting people to see it
Still living this life after almost 8 months. A professional I know who works almost exclusively with trans people said almost all of them are unemployed.

I am by no means a class first — let alone class only — leftist, but the older I get the more I think that the way you disrupt a lot of sexual violence and exploitation, including Epstein type shit, is by raising the floor with a massive social safety net and lowering the ceiling with taxes.

I had the pleasure of reading @isaacpickell.bsky.social new book of poetry,The Smallest Mistake We Call Human. Here's the blurb:

"Isaac Pickell's poems are an abundance of intimacy and strength. Mothers, relationships, identity: the fullness of a vibrant emotional life experienced through poetry."
PRESALE TIME!!

The best time to order small press books is during presale, when there are author incentives and awards buzz begins.

So order one, or order ten for all your friends. I mean look at that cover — who wouldn't want this on a coffee table.

I can never forget this
In October, ICE grabbed Maher Tarabishi.

He was a 24/7 caregiver for his disabled son Wael.

At the time of Maher’s detention, disability advocates warned that taking away Wael’s caregiver put his life at risk.

Wael died 3 months later.

ICE caused his death.

They didn’t even get to say goodbye:
ICE Took Wael Tarabishi's Full Time Caregiver Away... and it Killed Him
Wael Tarabishi was a 30 year old disabled man who's father Maher was his full time caregiver. ICE took Maher in October, leaving Wael without support. He died three months later.
