Slowly, we're getting closer. New map spotted at pioneer square station!

PIMS was running this morning (picture by @technicality.cc) but has since been disabled and replaced by this warning.

Happy interlining week! 1-car trains running today up to Lynnwood.

This is so funny that I hate it's real. We are in a simulation.
A reporter asks if Mamdani stands by calling Trump a fascist. Mamdani starts to give a delicate answer.

Trump (smiles, pats Mamdani's arm): "That's OK, you can just say yes. It's easier. I don't mind."

This is also delaying the Sounder for hours.

Light rail stays winning

So many buildings, so many possible lifestyles.
What if I moved to Capitol Hill instead of Northgate? Would I still be at peace? Would I be more social? What would I do with my saved commute time?
Living in a city for long enough as a renter means constantly being confronted with buildings you walked through but never moved into...something that always forces you to consider (if just for a second) the person you would be today if you had.

I really love my city.

Then I compare that to the comments on this article.
I'm interested in seeing how SeattleTimes and moderate/conservative Seattlites balance defending/supporting Wilson and calling her unfit for office or socialist or whatever other insults they come up with.

New council can't come soon enough. This is so stupid and is exactly the "bureaucracy" that everyone outside of politics hates about politics.
In the end, only Rinck opposed amending the 2020 Seattle Transit Measure, approved by 80.32% of voters, to add a new spending category for transit safety and security.

The $250,000 budget amendment will directly siphon funds from transit service that the city buys from King County.

@jebox.bsky.social Game design question: I'm curious why the decision was made to remove horses/mules from riding boats, rather than allowing it.
I understand the philosophy of "it's too big", but from a gameplay perspective it seems like a hinderance with no good (humane?) alternative?

i cannot and will not tire of watching the scenery fly by out the amtrak window

Just confirmed: Operator training now from CID to Judkins Park on 1-car trains.
Mon/tues to be 4 car trains.
Week after to be 1 to 4 car trains interlining from South Bellevue to Lynnwood.
The following week will be from Redmond to Lynnwood.
No passenger riding until EOY/until Spring full opening.

There is a rumor circulating that March 14 will be the crosslake opening date.

Based on the September report that released a few days ago, that's plausible.

Eliminate float (3/27), bump pre-rev to immediately following SIT (2/15), and overlap/trim opening prep (3/14), and the timeline works. 👀

I really wonder what degree of action is necessary to reform this stupid process. Local reform alone isn't enough, because we're funding projects through more means than that...

This thread is a clown show and I'm grateful for Ryan for covering it. More people need to be against this stupidity
This meeting is happening now, as expected, opponents of pedestrianizing Pike Place Market are pretty heavily represented when it comes to providing public comment on potential bollard installation at the Market.
URGENT BOLLARD ALERT.

SDOT is going to the Pike Place Market Historical Commission next Wednesday to get initial guidance on the "physical protective barriers" planned ahead of the FIFA World Cup.

The board is getting its temperature taken on a "hybrid approach" of bollards and vehicle barricades.

Take that, forward thrust. We didn't need you anyway.
Link Light Rail has had higher ridership than MARTA every month for the past year

Why do I tell everyone to vote? Because you end up in situations like this. Where Katie Wilson and Bruce Harrell are within 100 votes of each other.

Reminder: Mandatory recounts are triggered if the gap is under 2000 votes. We're not done counting, but it's heading there.

Not the best of starts
Executive-elect Girmay Zahilay has announced Doug Baldwin, Microsoft's Brad Smith, MLK Labor's Katie Garrow, and Seattle Indian Health Board's Esther Lucero as his transition team's co-chairs.

Deputy Exec Karan Gill will be serving as the transition's executive director.

It's like Chuck Schumer wakes up every day by asking "what can I do to make young people despise my party even more?"

Not premature or anything!
Oh hey, Sound Transit has rolled out updated information on digital signage on the Link 1 Line in anticipation of the 2 Line sharing stops on the mainline, with the addition of the 2 Line on shared station numbers and connection details. www.reddit.com/r/soundtrans...

Putting aside that we're using light rail for commuter rail purposes, this is a commuter rail strategy and is extremely effective at getting ridership up from car dependent suburbs without requiring massive park and rides.
Kiss and Rides are awesome, especially with integrated bus stops.
This is apparently something called a “Kiss and Ride” drop off. A maze for cars next to a train station. I have never heard of this term, but it echos what @volts.wtf has said that we waste transit projects that still serve suburban commuters and cars over moving people to places they want to be

Yarrow Point is #AntiBellevue
Signs your municipal tax structure is fundamentally broken: the Town of Yarrow Point is asking residents to get their new iPhone delivered to their house instead of buying it in Bellevue so they get the sales tax revenue.

These are gorgeous and this is why I'm so against arbitrary breaking up of the massing. The facade itself has more depth than most "modern" buildings, but there's no random segmented portions or major modulation here. It's simple and cohesive.
yeah Canno Design cracked the brick code here and now they sail through design review
