Reasoning backwards from a conclusion comes in many names and forms. I like “sophistry” myself.
She also seems deeply hostile to any systemic analyses of racial inequality/racism and the racial justice movements of the 2010s.
I don't think this is accurate. Weiss is extremely committed to violent zionism and the dehumanization of Palestinians. that core hatred fuels her embrace of the MAGA right and of other fascist bigotries.

It's not quite the most pressing issue at the moment, but the American people absolutely have a right to know the names of the federal officials who shot and killed a man peacefully protesting, who was on his knees, prone in the street when they shot him in the back.

It's called the Yglesias-Schumer Strategy™
People are telling me that, when Trump is in deep trouble on his signature issue, and the majority has moved so far left they now adopt the 'radical' position of abolishing ICE, the savvy play for Schumer is to immediately find the quickest and easiest compromise that will save the GOP.

I disagree.
Trump's job approval on immigration has gotten 2x worse since January 4, sliding from -5 to -10 in under a month. Now at a new low.
The president has also taken a pretty big hit across pollsters on deportations, mostly over the last 2 weeks gelliottmorris.com/data

It's hilarious that they're pretending Tom Homan is some kind of voice of calm and reason. He looks and sounds like someone who would be hitting Dick Tracy's knees with a hammer

Honored that in his last days of fame and fortune at CBP the disgraced Gregory Bovino chose to attack, among others, me.

While glad to see Bovino humbled, I really don’t have any higher opinion of Homan—a cruel, cold, corrupt, calculating bureaucrat who’s devoted more of his career to mass deportation than almost anyone. He’s the architect of child separation.

The biggest risk in this moment is something sociologists call “symbolic compliance.”

That’s when an institution that is violating civil rights gives the public just enough symbolic victories that accountability efforts lose steam before there has been any meaningful change.

No secret police. No black site prisons. No concentration camps.
Reports from Whipple Detention Center in MN are alarming: overcrowding, people shackled, denied medical care, and limited access to food.

And now, they are blocking members of Congress from visiting ICE facilities to hide these inhumane conditions.

So we're back in court.

Honestly these are pretty reasonable expectations!
I have numerous complaints about Ro Khanna, but he took his ass to Minneapolis and seems genuinely pissed off and that’s what I want to see from every Democrat in Congress right now
"Pam Bondi needs to be impeached or resign. Not just because she's failed to release the Epstein files...but to blame Renee Good? It's just shameful! The agent should be arrested and prosecuted! We have an administration where there is elite impunity," -Rep. @rokhanna.bsky.social tells us

Congress passed a law to release ALL the Epstein Files by last month.

AG Bondi is defying Congress and violating federal law by withholding millions of documents.

Bondi needs to release the files NOW and deliver the accountability the survivors deserve.

Homan to MN, Trump speaks with Walz, Leavitt marginally distances Trump from Noem—all show Trump’s feeling a little heat. But these gestures mean as much as Putin suggesting he’s changed and wants peace with Ukraine.

Don’t fall for it.

Insist: ICE and CBP off the streets of Minnesota.

No secret police.
Naming someone is not doxxing. They aren’t undercover. They aren’t intelligence agents overseas. This is outrageous - we are supposed to be a free Republic and these people want an authoritarian police state. Lawsuits should be filed & ranking Dems in Congress should act.

No member of the GOP is required to continue complicity. At any moment, they are free to simply walk away. Or, even better, start speaking out against it.
Attorney Chris Madel said he is ending his campaign for Minnesota governor because of the national GOP’s “retribution” on his state, referring to ICE operations that he described as an “unmitigated disaster.”
