This is tonight, hope to see you there 😵‍💫🌀
BTW in honor of thanksgiving I will be talking with my friend @zappy.bsky.social about the novella I put out last year and my disappointing behavior in the DND campaign she runs. Don't miss it!

All healthcare is getting the transgender treatment. Enjoy losing your mind as the media runs dozens of medicine sceptical stories. Welcome to transgender for everyone!
There's something so... disturbing about MAHA using incredibly low, low rates of adverse reaction to justify putting what are obviously harm reducing medications from people
trying to start a moral panic and the stories are all like “the ADHD meds really helped but didn’t solve everything”

Reread performance review in prep for Thursday and I like that I've advanced in my writing such that I see all sorts of things I would do differently, expand upon, etc. now that I wasn't able to conceptuspize and enact less than two years ago.

If I did this sort of thing to a contributor of TRANSplants they would have every right to shoot me
Did you read my post from last week about how contract woes caused me to withdraw an accepted story from F&SF, ending my 54-year quest to be published in that magazine? But wait (as the saying goes) — there's more! Scroll down at the link for an update. www.scottedelman.com/wordpress/20...

You're so sweet Sloane! I'm honored to be in Imposter Review. I've never felt more connection to a magazine's name.
Honestly I've never been more gagged than seeing this name in the Imposter inbox. @asterolsen.bsky.social on boat building and confused teenage boys. She's doing it like nobody else in the space and I'm so glad we could kick off Hope with this one.
As always, submit to Imposter Review.

One of the reasons people--myself included--are upset is the lack of transparency from the Times about this entire situation when they've gone on endless crusades against transgender people on flimsy evidence or ideological whim; we can also talk about the Mamdani/Columbia thing or Claudine Gay.
"I'm a rando who prefers to believe that everything is a conspiracy and am happy to tell women that I know better than she does how their literal job works" That a news org makes an editorial decision you wouldn't (or I wouldn't) doesn't mean someone is killing a story on behalf of a powerful person
"I write for the New York Times, and I can assure you that we've never buried stories on behalf of powerful people, many of those powerful people being part of NYT management. We only publish what's fit to print, like Zohran's application to Columbia that was leaked by a white nationalist"

Criticism of an institution is not a personal attack, misogyny, nor a baseless conspiracy. The desire for influence from those with power corrupts even well intentioned people's critical thinking faculties and results in a defense of harmful actions by the institution. Tale old as time.

Records from the Alabastion Federation Archives follows a survey team visiting a planet and asks:

What is alien? How do we understand the other? How do our preconceptions and limited framing lead us to fail?

So it turns out... the US air travel system was incredibly, deeply dependent on federal funding to just run day-to-day all this time, to the benefit of private airline shareholders, when everyone thinks that state-run trains are leeching off the government. Weird!

Switching to a local printer for TRANSplants but might have to raise the price if I want it to be in color (optional) and pay contributors what I want (mandatory).

Would you pay $12 for a full color zine instead of $10 for black and white?

Dem insiders who eight months ago wanted to sacrifice trans people to maybe win three more votes in Georgia are celebrating tonight and I just want to say that I remember and I hold grudges. The Dem establishment and party should go the way of the Whigs.
