Titles from P.E.C.’s French Line, the publisher’s gay imprint. One of the reasons I can’t find much about P.E.C. is that, unlike their competitors Greenleaf and Milton Luros’ Parliament empire, they weren’t involved in any legal battles that I can find.

Im trying to find more information about P.E.C. (Publisher’s Export Co.). It was a 60s/70s San Diego smut publisher founded by Donald Patrick but I’m really stuck trying to find out anything about him or the company. I know lots of you have P.E.C.s in your collections but does anyone know more?

I am speechless—bodiless—with wonder over @danchaon.bsky.social’s One of Us. The highest compliment I can pay it is a place on the shelf with the greatest books about carnivals of all time. It’s a very close 3rd—just a hair—behind Geek Love and Nightmare Alley & I will read it again many times.

![Can you put into words what that purpose is? You and the frog have really become icons of this protest.
There’s been a nice overall whimsy that has shown up. The frog is amazing. We had a bunch of other inflatable people here last night, too. I saw people playing Twister the other day.
What they rely on is fear. So by coming out in an absurdist manner, it speaks to them, to some extent, that we’re actually not that afraid.
It also dismantles their narrative a little bit.
