I don’t have a lot of P.E.C. lesbian titles, but the ones I have live up to the promise of “The finest in adult reading.” I’ve been working hard on my Substack and you’ll see one of these soon!

Titles from P.E.C.’s French Line, the publisher’s gay imprint. One of the reasons I can’t find much about P.E.C. is that, unlike their competitors Greenleaf and Milton Luros’ Parliament empire, they weren’t involved in any legal battles that I can find.

Im trying to find more information about P.E.C. (Publisher’s Export Co.). It was a 60s/70s San Diego smut publisher founded by Donald Patrick but I’m really stuck trying to find out anything about him or the company. I know lots of you have P.E.C.s in your collections but does anyone know more?

This whole novella is stunning but this passage stopped my heart for a second with its raging truth. #BookStdies #Disability

I am speechless—bodiless—with wonder over @danchaon.bsky.social’s One of Us. The highest compliment I can pay it is a place on the shelf with the greatest books about carnivals of all time. It’s a very close 3rd—just a hair—behind Geek Love and Nightmare Alley & I will read it again many times.

www.nytimes.com/1983/02/11/b...

This NYT article claims that the brand name Belair was inserted in the text when cigarettes are mentioned, but I’ve skimmed the book and this is not true but there is an ad in the back.

In 1983 Philip Morris bought three Candlelight Romances from Dell to promote Belair cigarettes. These “Compliments of Belair” editions were promotional items for customers.

A day late for the old beast’s birthday but not too late to be a #Gothtober #DailyPaperback

I love book gimmicks so much I once curated an exhibition called “Death By Gimmick!” so of course I had to order this mayonnaise-sponsored stinky tome. I will follow up with an assessment when I get it.

Let’s get back to the #DailyPaperback and celebrate #Gothtober, starting with this paperback cut into the shape of a tombstone.

I am so honored to be interviewing my friend and new Harlequin author @isabellepopp.bsky.social tonight and showing off some old school romance. First romance novel I’ve been thanked in 😭 It’s a fantastic cozy fall read featuring a fmc with heart and bite—I highly recommend!

Challenging myself to stop buying duplicate books just because they have Elaine Duillo covers (just kidding I will never stop doing this). #DailyPaperback

I’m sorry but this is the best product name I have ever seen

I never thought to do this. If my only additions to human knowledge relate to a Mary Shelley story and a quack medical device I am fine with that

First thing I saw him in was The Muppets Take Manhattan, which I still love

His name is Columbo. I found him under a bush in the rain.

Very exciting! A few from my collection.

Huh, are those AI-generated covers for new editions of these books?
