one of the greatest human triumphs of my lifetime is the relentless, unceasing, heroic effort by DECADES' worth of doctors and scientists to find a cure for a disease much of the world didn't take seriously for years because it predominantly affected a community they thought kinda deserved it
Just because good news is worth celebrating:

There is now a Prep medication that is an *every six month* injection.

HIV has, effectively, a vaccination.

I can’t overstate that nearly every good headline coming out of Minnesota has been followed up by retaliation by the Trump administration—which tends to get a lot less attention.

This is infuriating and devastating.

I’m on the scene at Franklin and 1st. A convoy of about a couple dozen ICE/HSI agents broke the entryway into an apartment building at 6am. No warrant presented. Less than 24 hours ago, Tom Homan announced the end of large convoys in Minnesota… Bullshit.

Republicans have utterly tanked their cultural capital, my goodness. And they're going to hear about it absolutely anywhere a crowd gathers.

A large CAVA bag stuffed with what it says is $50,000 for White House Border Czar Tom Homan.

It’s been reported Homan took bribery money when he was recorded by the FBI accepting a bag full of $50,000 in cash.

NEW: A rupture between DOJ and ICE has emerged in Minnesota, where overwhelmed prosecutors keep dropping the ball — and saying ICE won't return their messages.

The crisis has had real-world consequences for migrants illegally detained

Observers all over are bad ass but I give so much respect to those in the burbs and greater Minnesota who have less widespread community support compared to those in the cities and inner ring burbs.

We will win. ICE OUT.
Most of the footage you see from ICE observers in Minnesota comes from the core cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul. I talked to observers in the northern suburbs, who say they're taking on the same mission in very different conditions. (1)

Also: 2,300 ICE agents is still almost exactly the number of local police officers from the ten largest police forces in Minnesota COMBINED. As such, can report there's been no change on the ground today in my community.
This Homan presser is completely incoherent. He started by announcing a drawdown of 700 agents (good!) but then pivoted to whining about "rhetoric" (bad) and suggested there will be more bloodshed if it doesn't stop (grim). Not clear to me that anything is actually changing on the ground here in MN.

Predicting that this week we’ll hear more conciliatory words from the Administration regarding Minnesota (since they’re starting to realize that ICE has become politically toxic) but everyone outside of Minnesota needs to know that nothing on the ground has changed.

If you're wondering how mainstream media is covering the broad-based peaceful resistance in Minnesota, this morning @cnn.com aired footage of the Minneapolis 3rd Precinct fire *from the 2020 riots* as if it happened last night. This isn't just misleading, it's a dirty rotten lie.

I just happened to drive up to an intersection as the ride came through and shut the road down. It was at least ten minutes before it thinned enough for me to drive across between groups. Beautiful thing to see in my neighborhood <3
The group bike ride for Alex Pretti is about to depart in Minneapolis, stopping at his memorial, then Renee Good’s, and finishing at the VFW. If you can join, hop on anywhere. It’s a warm 17° & sunny!

I’ve never seen this many cyclists for a group ride. ⚡️✊🏽⚡️🚲⚡️✊🏽⚡️ #RIPPretti

ICE is quietly reshaping daily life in greater MN, too.

In Willmar, more than 1,200 of 4,000 students were absent recently -- both white and BIPOC, teacher Tammy Knapper says. ICE detained a 19-year-old student for five days. Trauma takes the place of learning. Something must change. #edmnvotes

I cannot emphasize enough that the majority of people in Minneapolis have no idea who Will Stancil is, and do not form their action plans based on Bluesky discourse. The rebellion isn’t failing. You don’t need to start doom-posting about Mpls ICE-out efforts because one guy got kicked out of a chat.
I get that there are a lot of strong feelings re: the will stancil RR ride along drama, but I think it's a mistake to get too caught up in it.
