Writes. Wants to play guitar very badly, & does. Has the best kid in the universe. Queer in a number of ways. Chronically ill but still kicking.
On further consideration, it's opportunistic. It has to be.
Stephen Harper says the US is a "hostile" regime and Canada must urgently reduce its economic ties and hit back with counter tariffs.
He says business leaders are fooling themselves if they think things will go back to normal.
When I find myself in the same trench as Stephen Harper it's serious.

Magnificent.
Sir Ian McKellen performing a monologue from Shakespeare’s Sir Thomas More on the Stephen Colbert show. Never have I heard this monologue performed with such a keen sense of prescience. Nor have I ever been in this exact historical moment.TY Sir Ian, for reaching us once again.

My own experience, which is not inconsiderable, allows me to put out Captain Dan's Tear Gas Laundry guidelines.

Specifically, this is for your street clothing that has been exposed to tear gas in smoke/aerosol/dust/particulate form.

The NDP hasn't been truly leftist for years, esp. provincially (cf. ON NDP re: Sarah Jama & Palestine, BC NDP re: pipelines & old growth forests, Bob Rae crossing floor, etc.), while Fed NDP fails to position itself as functioning left alternative. What do they expect?

The UK version of “Project 2025” by the Reform party includes a British ICE, a concentration camp for 24,000 people, mass surveillance and withdrawing from refugee, anti-torture and anti-trafficking conventions.

It’s on their website. That’s how comfortable fascists are in the UK today.

Last week in Minnesota, I watched ordinary people risk their lives to protect their neighbors. In the process, they not only won a significant—though not final—victory against authoritarianism, they proved virtually every MAGA social theory wrong. (gift link) www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0...

I'm so tired of you, America

I know we're all seeing 87 unhinged things per day, but "guys if our multi billion dollar product doesn't start being useful for something, literally anything, the people might not appreciate us wrecking the planet over it anymore" is a truly bananapants thing to say out loud
Delicious to me

Ours has always been stealthy & fast. We put a baby gate on the kitchen (upgraded when he figured out how to open the first one) & have to strategise when bringing in groceries. Butter, liverwurst, all bread products, kale salad... if it's edible & unsecured, it's gone in seconds.

That is a correct assumption.
I'm not some highly paid pundit, nor a historian, and hell, I only have a communications degree from a state universtiy, but I have to think that the thing that is most troubling for the rest of the world is not the president — but that neither our Congress nor our SCOTUS are stopping him.

Imagine the laziness, cheapness, & foolishness of choosing & approving this 💩 in a city known for its art; Mackintosh wept. And then telling pissed off Scots, especially Glaswegians, to "calm down?" Go on & try that in Sauchiehall on a Saturday night. 🤣
NEW: Glasgow City Council has just approved a massive AI-generated mural to be painted in the city centre.

The illustration of Scottish elements inexplicably contains a bald eagle.

The planner says those upset about it are "keyboard warriors" who should "calm down"

A few months ago, ICE hired me

I didn't sign and submit any paperwork. I almost certainly failed the drug test. I'm real outspoken about my opposition to the Trump administration, and I am extremely googlable

And yet, there it was, in plain English. "Welcome to ICE!"

My latest for Slate
You’ve Heard About Who ICE Is Recruiting. The Truth Is Far Worse. I’m the Proof.
What happens when you do minimal screening before hiring agents, arming them, and sending them into the streets? We're all finding out.
