PSA: When there’s a difference between what you feel and what you’re supposed to feel, and you make an effort to correct that, that is called emotion work. When your job is getting paid to do emotion work – the smiling face at MickyD's, flight attendant, even sex work – that’s emotional labor.

Yes, I'm laughing. But you have to figure that over time this becomes a bit demoralizing for federal public corruption prosecutors.

Wow.

"It gives me no pleasure to say what I’m about to say because I worked with Pete Hegseth for seven or eight years at Fox News. This is an act of a war crime .... There’s absolutely no legal basis for it.”

- Newsmax's Judge Napolitano
Woah. Newsmax’s legal analyst just said Pete Hegseth and everyone involved in the illegal boat strike should be “prosecuted for a war crime.”

They’ve even lost Newsmax on this one.

Turns out they/them pronouns are useful when you want to distance yourself from responsibility for the war crimes.
Hegseth: "As President Trump always has our back, we always have the back of our commanders who are making decisions in difficult situations. All these strikes, they're making judgement calls ensuring they defend the American people. They've done the right things. We'll keep doing that."

Congress shouldn’t be allowed to create federal programs that rely on, or are expanded by, donated money from oligarchs. For private wealth to co-fund public policy undermines the entire structure of congressional appropriations and blurs the line between democracy and plutoracy.

For some reason Democratic leaders seem to prefer telling voters what they won’t be able to do, rather than what they’d like to do.

If Hegseth ordered a war crime and lied about it, shouldn’t Ds try for impeachment? Put Rs on the spot. They might get a few defections.

Jeffries says not to expect Democrats to pursue Hegseth impeachment over boat strikes

Translation: Pete may well go down for this. But I’m not going with him.
Reporter: If there were a second strike that killed wounded people, would that be legal?

Trump: I don’t know that happened and Pete said he did not even know what people were talking about. I wouldn’t have wanted a second strike. The first strike was very lethal. It was fine.

If you think Kevin O'Connell is a bad coach because a super young and totally untested pair of quarterbacks have struggled, you're a fucking idiot.

This season sucks. I wish it were going differently. Calm the fuck down.

It's amazing how so many billionaires - who have WAY more money than they could possibly need in 500 lifetimes - REALLY want to avoid paying small slivers of tax money to benefit a common good like social safety services for less fortunate countrymen within the society that made them billionaires.

The biggest drivers of AI* being forced into higher ed:

1. The ungodly amounts of money behind it
2. The sweaty AI* marketing promises of increased efficiencies (whatever that means)
3. High susceptibility of administrators who are determined to run universities "like businesses."
Universities are assembling larger and larger teams to deal with academic integrity issues--mostly focused on AI--while simultaneously holding AI "writing" contests, AI-themed events, "hey, come play with these fun tools!" The messages are so mixed, it's criminal. Because AI is bloated with money.

Also, essentially none of them are true. This man would claim a coup is legal, so long as it serves his God King.

He's lying constantly, politicizing the office, in violation of the War Powers Act, and is wildly incompetent. He needs to be removed from office.
a lot of words, none of them denying that Hegseth gave an order to kill helpless people who were stranded at sea after he blew up their boats

Anyway, watching what's essentially All 22 is awesome. But the "AI-powered" gimmick sucks. And it's dumb.

Excellent thread about science funding and the NIH.
This new policy from NIH is concerning.

It looks like a way to weaponize administrative burden, one of Russell Vought's favorite moves to break gov't.

Background: Program staff / NIH institute directors can move grants around outside peer review order. 1/
This is concerning.

NIH is changing their policy so that staff have to prepare justification for every application that is funded BUT NO DOCUMENTATION FOR APPLICATIONS THAT ARE SKIPPED (BASED ON PERCENTILES).
