every neoliberal policy analyst wants to "trim the fat" of society until the lean times come. community level resilience, redundancies, etc are good actually
When power went out across all of Puerto Rico on 16 April, a lot of the lights in the town of Adjuntas stayed on. A combination of experimental microgrids, solar panels, and storage kept power on for many businesses and residents.

I’d get reading and research resources for my class, take them on field trips—though I imagine a gov’t that would provide UBI would also fund education adequately.
Honest question: If everyone got Universal Basic Income, no strings attached, what would YOU do with it?

Americans who saw through the propaganda for war in the middle east but now fully buy into it for regime change in Venezuela are the weirdest. That’s like managing to pull your head out of your ass, taking a deep breath, and then shoving it right back in there.

Yep. Exactly this. If a prof isn't willing to do the work to track and punish AI use, they're giving students a green light to use it.

I firmly believe that it is deeply unethical for professors to put students who don't cheat at a disadvantage in relation to those who do.
It seems to me that what people really mean when they say that is that there isn't any way to do it that can be entirely automated.

My rule is that if I'm not willing to put in the effort to keep track of what students are doing, I don't expect them to do it. 🤷

He look guilty as sin or am I just reading into it? 🤔

It's "stick to sports" when players speak on issues, but never "stick to sports" when they promote harmful things.

Everything is political. This is a choice and it speaks volumes! Hope folks are listening.

It's so blatantly disingenuous. Because of course Mazzig isn't suggesting that the West Bank be given back to Jordan, he just wants an excuse to deny Palestinians civil and political rights in the country they actually live in.
Great example of what I was talking about, here is Hen Mazzig saying something he knows is untrue but that he thinks you'll believe.

In 1988 the Jordanians ceded its claims on East Jerusalem and the West Bank with the expectation that the Palestinians would soon receive their state.
