Bright pink opium poppy (Papaver somniferum). These poppies were in the Madonna Inn garden; this pink is their signature pink that is everywhere!

Two bright pink poppies up close, The petals are mostly hot pink, with four large black patches near the center of the flower and the center of the petals. Next is a ring of whitish stamen that are numerous, delicate and look like they would flutter. The very center of the flower is yellow. These are in the Madonna Inn garden, and the color matches their decor...all hot pink! San Luis Obispo, California

Bouncing among branches and leaves, silky sunlight ducks and weaves. Illuminating the forest floor, beckoning me onward to explore. I've walked these trails in every season, ive walked these trails for no reason. I walk sometimes to clear my head or just to see my old friends. Nature naturally nurtures, sunbeams sing sweet songs. Basking in beautiful bounty, living in a landscape of love.

A vast mountain lake lies perfectly still beneath a shifting canopy of morning clouds, the water so calm it mirrors the world above with startling precision. The forested slopes rise steeply from the shore—dense ranks of evergreens standing shoulder to shoulder, their deep greens darkened by the cool air that lingers after dawn. Across the lake, the mountains ascend in layered silhouettes, each ridge fading slightly into the next until they dissolve into mist and sky. The tallest peaks, draped in soft indigo shadow, hold the first gold of sunrise along their upper ridges, as if the light itself were testing the day’s strength. The surface of the water reflects every detail: the pale blush of early sunlight, the blue-gray folds of distant rock, the intricate play of clouds and open sky. Near the shallows, where the lakebed is visible, the reflection gives way to clarity—a window into clear, cold depths that seem untouched by motion or sound. The horizon, where lake and land and air converge, feels less like a boundary than a quiet truce between elements.

I went to my first autumn market yesterday & did all my Christmas shopping! We aren't big on gifting in my family but a wee something is so fun to share. It feels great to support local artists, each offering unique & special. Maybe give it a go!🎉
