The point of playing football is to play football.

So Notre Dame's decision to opt out of playing a bowl game isn't just disappointing, but bad for the sports, @chrisvannini.com writes.

Saying this not to be prickly: sometimes hard things are good for us. And sometimes, when we don't have what we want, we can get on a path we'd have never imagined.
If I ran a big company I wouldn't force people to go into an office, but more acknowledgement that office settings can be great for young professionals is good. I never would've helped organize a union or been on a bargaining committee if it weren't for having a physical office. I do miss it
Entirely remote work means less training and opportunity for advancement, especially for younger workers, new research suggests. Here's what economists say.

i think both of these points are key and should be presented together. forcing everyone into an office in 2025 is usually absurd and functions as a gate against people with great reasons not to be in office. giving it as an option is good

I’m fully in support of remote work for those who want it, but I think there are a lot of opportunities for knowledge and relationship development lost by not sharing a space. I’ve had a number of breakthroughs on stuff come from shooting the shit that never would have happened on a Teams chat.
