Over 10,000 killed within three days.

Pools of blood around a hospital so large they could be seen from space.

An absolute nightmare.
“Individuals on the ground sent a message that reached us Monday morning that 1,200 were dead,” Nathaniel Raymond, the lab’s executive director, said. “By that evening, they said 10,000. By Tuesday, we couldn’t reach them anymore. We assume our ground contacts are dead.”

Chat Control is the latest example of "But think about the children!" (BTATC) policy proposal that ends privacy as we know it. It would have an algorithm scan your messages, detect whether its illegal content, and then report it to authorities. What would actually happen: mass surveillance.

this is infuriating

client-side viewing is client-side snooping of the citizen's private messages

it IS a backdoor to end-to-end encryption, there's is no other way to frame it
We are alarmed by reports that Germany is on the verge of a catastrophic about-face, reversing its longstanding and principled opposition to the EU’s Chat Control proposal which, if passed, could spell the end of the right to privacy in Europe. signal.org/blog/pdfs/ge...

Latest update for log_list.json includes a logs: [], which breaks the requirement here. However maybe we should be checking whether logs or tiled_logs is not empty instead?

interesting how cops also see the benefit from secure, private, e2ee in communications

would the state monopoly on violence also be extended to citizen privacy as governments try to crack down on e2ee?

I mean, the Nazi's still hosted the 1936 Olympics.

3 years into their rule, 3 years after their first concentration camps, 2 years before Kristallnacht, 3 years before the start of WW2.

They've been sending Jews to concentration camps for 3 years, and still a few Jewish athletes won medals.
Not sure how the World Cup can still happen here a year from now. Which foreign fans are going to fly to the US with the risk of being Gitmoed once they get here??
