I've updated Extreme Bevy, my tutorial series on creating a p2p web game to Bevy 0.17.

I also added a brand new chapter on sprite animations. It's starting to look like a real game now :)

changing rustfmt is politically difficult, because any changes you make is gonna piss someone off

it doesn't surprise me that maintenance has been slow and hard

Avian is getting pretty big nowadays! To mark the start of a new release cycle, I spent some time improving our processes moving forward.

Notably, Avian now stores migration guides in-repo, similar to Bevy:

Objective Closes #742. Until now, we have had the following process: Each PR that has a breaking change is marked with C-Breaking-Change, and gets a ## Migration Guide section At the end of the re...

I just released version 0.4 of Avian, an ECS-driven physics engine for @bevy.org.

This is the biggest release yet, featuring 3x performance(!), overhauled forces and joints, voxel colliders, Bevy 0.17 support, and much more.

As always, release notes can be found here:

Bevy 0.17! I only have minor improvements in this one, because my engine-level work has been focused on VFX instead of Bevy proper, but the improvements everyone has contributed to this have been awesome to see!

Most of the internet used to be like this. This is actually the default, it took companies enclosing the internet and adding weird, soul-killing incentives to make people behave the way they do now. In a way, there is truly nothing special about Wikipedia except that it survived longer.
“Wikipedia is this economic anomaly. In many ways, it’s sort of magical that people will just volunteer without explicit economic incentives to create artifacts that are meant to share knowledge with everyone in the world”

Also (yeah, I quoted twice…hush), this is another really good example of why I’d prefer to fund NASA instead of privatizing space travel…because NASA is never going to use its budget to prop up a failing social media platform & its owner’s racist AI ego project.
So... he had his xAI (powered by chips he took from his public company, Tesla) buy X to cover his losses there and now he's having his SpaceX give money to xAI. Sorta feels like a shell game to prop things up.
