Immigration and Customs Enforcement uses over 175 facilities across the states and territories of the US to detain people who ICE believes are eligible for removal.

Starting today, I am going to start posting some summary information from DetentionReports.com for two facilities each day.
You may know of a county jail or detention facility near where you live that is currently holding people in custody for ICE. If you are wondering why that location is not on detentionreports.com, it could be that it:

- has an average ICE detainee pop. < 1
- it falls under one of these categories.

We have updated detentionreports.com.

229 separate reports for 229 ICE detention facilities.

fun tactical scrap atm. puts a lot of pressure on both coaches to be careful about the changes they make, which weirdly enough for the spirit complicates getting trin on. straight swap for cantore makes sense, but she was key to building through the press.

Someone is going to have the write the thing about how “vibe” has become a substitute for meaningful theory in a world where the theory is so clear — grift and power — but we collectively refuse if because it isn’t sophisticated enough to generate make work for empiricists.

My latest: The latest detention management figures are out, covering the entire shutdown.

While federal workers were furloughed, ICE arrested and detained approximately 54,000 people and deported approximately 56,000 people.
Tens of thousands of people were detained and deported during US government shutdown
As most government business halted during the shutdown, immigration agents continued their raids

BREAKING: ICE Detention Crosses Record 65,000, October Arrests Top Record 40,000, Biggest Growth Among People with No Criminal History
After over two months of no data, ICE's new detention numbers show a record 65,135 people in detention, biggest growth among immigrants with no criminal histories. GPS ankle monitors also grow to 35k.

About $165 a day per person to house this many individuals, most of which have no criminal convictions.
After more than two months with no updates, ICE has finally released new detention statistics.

ICE reports a total of 65,135 detainees as of Nov. 16, 2025.

Yes. This data has been published on a biweekly basis (shutdown notwithstanding) for six years, and I have no reason to believe it's false, especially as it actually disproves a lot of what the admin is claiming with their bluster-filled press releases.
Do we trust this data?

From what I've seen, the best analysis of this definitional game played by DHS is from @prisonpolicy.org. Their report back in July showed that ICE's public detention numbers capture about 2/3 of the actual number of people in ICE custody.

This July 2025 report shows how ICE official detention numbers undercount the number of immigrants actually held using jails and federal criminal charges, so the current number is surely larger: www.prisonpolicy.org/reports/jail...

Broadview provides an example of how ICE custody does not equal ICE detention.

People held by ICE in hold rooms, hospitals, or hotels are not counted as officially "detained" when it comes to the stats reporting.
I did not expect the Broadview facility in suburban Chicago to appear on this list. And it didn't. ICE considers these kinds of places as "office locations" or "processing centers", which means Broadview is not an "authorized facility" by the agency's definition.
