On why we shouldn't move on too quickly from Trump's effort to imprison six members of Congress for making a video...

Donald Trump’s Disingenuous Promise to Champion Free Speech
It is Donald Trump’s systematic campaign to stamp out dissent and punish those who disagree with him that will be remembered as among the most singularly un-American aspects of his disruptive tenure.

Their internal memo: “We will launch during a dynamic political environment where many civil society groups that we would expect to attack us would have their resources focused on other concerns.”

Holy moly: Seattle’s millionaire tax, passed last year, is expected to bring in $115 million in its 1st year, way more than the $50 million anticipated.

The funds will go to the city’s new social housing developer publicola.com/2026/02/11/t...

(Is NY Gov Hochul paying attention?)
Seattle’s millionaire tax is a huge success. Here is how grassroots groups beat big money and are now raising tons of money for mixed income, rent stabilized housing. (We call it “social housing.”)

Don’t believe the hype about them, leaving Minnesota, either.

Like it or not, America is a load-bearing pillar of the global economy and handing power over to a bunch of people who value online grifters over scientists has dire consequences. They should be trying Vinay Prasad and RFK Jr. at The Hague.

A Democratic win in 2026 or 2028 does not solve this problem unless the Democrats as a party are willing to pick some very aggressive structural fights in Congress. There are a lot of Edith Joneses in the federal judiciary right now and most of them are decades younger than 76.

The thing is that the reason he is so adamantly opposed to Mamdani's politics is that he's racist.
"Chuck Schumer's refusal to support Mamdani was racist" is one of the stupidest fucking things I've ever heard - and that's a stiff fucking competition - because it requires you to believe "Schumer would have supported a white dude with Mandani's politics"

DOJ is just a corrupt shell at this point.

This isn't the most pressing crisis in the federal judiciary, but it's insane to me that a former Supreme Court clerk who has *active cases* pending before the Court can write a slobbering op-ed about how smart and magnificent his old boss is, and there are zero professional consequences for it
Samuel Alito Is a Great Man, According to a Former Alito Clerk Arguing Cases at the Supreme Court
Ben Aguiñaga, Louisiana’s solicitor general, has appeared before the justices three times this term. In an op-ed, he describes his old boss as “kind, humble, thoughtful and selfless.”

‘Imprison all women’ may sound outrageous. But all of the horrors that are routine today started out as some ghoulish guy being allowed to say stuff like this without being beaten with hammers.
Fuentes, yesterday: “Our #1 political enemy is women because women constrain everything, every conversation, every man, everything. They have to be imprisoned. They are the ones that are hurting the fertility rate. They're the ones making us sympathetic to poor people, which are also brown people.”
Nick Fuentes: “The number one political enemy in America is women. … They have to be imprisoned.”
