Nearly every mechanism that made my career possible—Ford, NSF, Harvard BiGS—is gone or on the way to the chopping block.
This means NSF dissertation improvement grants in the social sciences are simply...not happening.
NEW from me - NSF cancels grant scheme for social science research.

Seems the NSF quietly archived ALL calls for DDRIG grants in the SBE directorate. This is a massive blow for PhD students wanting to do cutting-edge social science research. 🏺🧪

Why is Microsoft pushing Gen AI crap into Windows and Microsoft 365, etc.?

Because massive corporations no longer make consumer products for consumer desires, needs.

Consumer products are now weapons to spy on you to make shareholders and fascism happy.

Shootings in DC are down substantially from where they were a few years ago having fallen steadily since mid-2023. Gun violence fell briefly in the wake of the National Guard + Federal law enforcement deployment but has largely returned to its pre-intervention level over the last few weeks.

BREAKING MS NOW:

Trump is considering removing Kash Patel as FBI director in the coming months, as he and his top aides have grown increasingly frustrated by the unflattering headlines Patel has recently generated, according to three people with knowledge of the situation.
President Trump may have had enough of Kash Patel, according to sources
The president is weighing whether to oust the FBI director after scrutiny of Patel's stewardship of bureau resources, including his girlfriend’s security detail and use of a government jet.

Trump tried to extort Brazil to drop the case against Bolsonaro by slapping a 50% tariff on the country

He also personally sanctioned Alexandre de Moraes-the judge overseeing this case-and his wife

Of course it didn’t work. Prices in the US increased instead

Now Trump has been humiliated

Billboard got access to Suno’s investment pitch deck.

It revealed that Suno has spent $32 million on compute, and $2,000 on training data.

Let that sink in.

Want to know how bad Donald Trump is losing his trade war with China?

Last month, he said China will buy 12 million tons of US soybeans by January. China hasn’t even bought 1/10th of that amount yet.

Trump is getting played by China while American farmers pay the price.
CNBC: My understanding is the White House said that China was gonna buy 12 million tons of soybeans from the US by January. That's approaching and they've only purchased 332,000. China has not confirmed that pledge.
