This was a neat talk. www.adaptivecapacitylabs.com/2025/01/07/r... Something I enjoy doing is overthinking. I like it where you practice thinking about core assumptions, where I might be wrong, about systems and cause and effect, how surprising results can arise from seemingly unrelated conditions.

People hate their own art because it looks like they made it. They think if they get better, it will stop looking like they made it. A better person made it. But there's no level of skill beyond which you stop being you. You hate the most valuable thing about your art.

Recently I've find myself writing more. Nothing interesting, mostly about work. I do it to get something out of my head and see how it sounds. I cant remember where I got this from, but this was a fantastic lecture about writing with so many helpful tips www.youtube.com/watch?v=vtIz...

I understand the satisfaction of "deleting" your Twitter account but I would not. Clear it if you desire. All your data there is not under your control and gets you nothing except a flag in one version of the data that says deleted. You need to deprive usage of your username and connected contexts.

I don't just like this, I love this. For ages I've been trying to tell people. You're just replacing your interpreter by a non deterministic interpreter and using a less formal language to describe what you want, thus increasing the time and explanation efforts, and increasing the risk as well.

A former manager once nicknamed me Cassandra, the Trojan priestess in Greek mythology cursed by the god Apollo to utter true prophecies but never to be believed.

I had a habit of pointing out signs a project was going to fail or a strategy was wrong before it became obvious.

I'm taking Friday's "TDD: Theme & Variations" talk at the Tech Excellence Conference seriously. How seriously? I'm going to have, wait for it, slides. Yes, really. I will not be taking questions at this time. (Actually I will, but it sounds cool to say that.)
