Something I find striking about Zach Polanski is how - unlike the vast majority of those who played a key role in Corbynism - his politics are so clearly not rooted in any kind of deeper analysis or intellectual tradition. It's all just a surface-level synthesis of 2010s left-wing slogans and memes.

The author is using one for voice recog, and if I could replicate that with one trained on ethically sourced data, or my own voice even, I'd like to.

I stopped buying consumer smart devices and built my own hardware instead

The United States is in material breach of over five hundred - yes, 500 - legally binding treaties with Indigenous nations.

And lest you say that's because of Trump, we were in breach of at least 350 under both of the last two Democratic administrations.

So yes, we are an illegal occupation.

Conquering and colonization is the way people acquired land at that time in history. It was uncivilized and involved violence and yet that's how land was acquired.

You fought over it and, if you won, it became yours. I acknowledge that's how America came to be. I also acknowledge colonization was a bad thing for indigenous populations.

But I think you're reaching pretty far to try to claim America is an ongoing illegal occupation in present day.

Okay here they do have a good point.

In chapter 6 (“we’d lose”) they discuss how disembodied superintelligent AI could harm us in the real world.

And the basic answer is “LOL Marc Andreessen is so fucking dense he’d probably just give it whatever it wants.”

That’s… terrifyingly realistic.
