Each month, we get a bread box from Duluth’s Best Bread. This month’s theme is Hanukkah and they really hit it out of the park! Can’t wait to devour it all!

Aviation accidents “receive an intense investigation by the NTSB with specific recommendations to improve safety, while events like the July 4th flash flood with 119 fatalities rely on entities like Camp Mystic self-policing themselves and developing their own plans to try to improve safety.”
The release of new safety plans by Camp Mystic shows the laissez-faire approach our society has to weather disasters compared to much lower probability risks such as commercial airline accidents. If we truly want to limit these tragedies, that has to change. https://tinyurl.com/527djxk3

And why this demonstrates how much more we need to be doing as a society to reduce weather fatalities

A frigid December morning in Duluth as temperatures fall below zero for the first time this season in the Twin Ports - even reading zero in the harbor! #MNwx

Just a friendly reminder that the Polar Vortex is not an Arctic storm, polar hurricane, blizzard or things that comes to visit us. Lobes of its wave system can dip south into the U.S. bringing colder air. I have already seen a car commercial improperly refer to it and a major newspaper headline.

Update: verified. Bonafide firehose of lake effect snow at the head of the lake this afternoon/evening! Challenging to predict - most models had it shifting eastward quickly. #MNwx

Definitely hints of “overachieving” lake affect snowfall this afternoon/evening for Duluth. Big fluffy flakes are falling now and there should be a good couple of hours for convergent winds to persist before the band shifts eastward.

La Niña, the Madden-Julian Oscillation (MJO), and the potential for a rare November Sudden Stratospheric Warming event (you're likely to have heard of this referred to as the "polar vortex") may combine to drive winter-like conditions across much of the U.S. late November into early December.

Thus, sharing a 15-day AIFS forecast map of a TC impacting the United States holds about as much value as sharing a 15-day GFS forecast. Practically none.

It may garner attention & entertainment value, but also much confusion to the general public that isn't watching every model cycle.

Jhoan Duran wanted his show-stopping entrance to continue in Philly. So the Twins thought it was right to send everything they had — including the custom remix — to Phillies.

Duran thought his electric entrance was too good to leave behind. The Twins agreed. After trading him, they helped the Phillies recreate it.
