Each month, we get a bread box from Duluth’s Best Bread. This month’s theme is Hanukkah and they really hit it out of the park! Can’t wait to devour it all!

Actually right about on time. Long term average is ~Nov 30 for Duluth. Here’s a listing of the past few years.

This arrival of subzero air is right on schedule climatologically - we typically see the first zero or colder reading this time of year. (Long term average for the current airport location is ~Nov 30).

A frigid December morning in Duluth as temperatures fall below zero for the first time this season in the Twin Ports - even reading zero in the harbor! #MNwx

Impressive! Just a casual ~30ish degrees below normal. www.meteo.psu.edu/ewall/DEPHR/...

Nearly 5” of snow at NWS Duluth!

Update: verified. Bonafide firehose of lake effect snow at the head of the lake this afternoon/evening! Challenging to predict - most models had it shifting eastward quickly. #MNwx

Definitely hints of “overachieving” lake affect snowfall this afternoon/evening for Duluth. Big fluffy flakes are falling now and there should be a good couple of hours for convergent winds to persist before the band shifts eastward.

Fewest Gale Warnings issued by NWS Duluth since 2015 - not a perfect way to analyze it but tells the story that there’s been below normal number of synoptic storms this fall.

First morning of snow making at Lutsen Mountain! What a beautiful sight to see - let’s go winter!

A wet Halloween night for parts of the Twin Ports - but hey, it’s pretty warm!
November 1, 2025 at 12:03 AM
Welp, that’s all for the growing season in the Twin Ports! Coldest morning of the fall so far!

Absolutely fantastic sun shower/rainbow conditions this afternoon!

Morning severe storms on the iron range appears to have caused considerable damage (lots of downed trees) nearly 10k customers without power between the two largest utilities. The initial NWS warning had nearly an hour of lead time for places like Hibbing! #MNwx

Happy All Pints North!

Hot and humid summer day turned downpour. Happy that we got off the deck about 5 minutes before it poured, but I bet a lot of people in Canal Park were surprised!

It’s always fascinating to see how a decaying thunderstorm complex falls apart as it outruns the best instability/forcing.

This cloud-to-ground lightning strike west of Carlton is a great example of why these isolated pop up storms - difficult to predict with neighborhood-level precision more than minutes out - can produce lightning with little to no warning. #MNwx

Low temperatures this morning, June 1st. It can be a short gardening season in the Northland! (These cool temps reflect how dry it is out there.)
