(He/Him). Roleplaying stuff. Lefty. Thoroughly enjoyed 4e D&D. The Fog is one of the best horror movies ever made. Can't get enough Forged in the Dark and random indie #ttrpg. Also can't be making up a new profile at my time of life.

Hey folks I'm Raff, rarely Andy. I help create the best fest live roleplaying game in the UK. On BlueSky I post about #ttrpg, enthuse about crowd funding indies, whinge, and sometimes bang out some fanfiction. Not as funny or clever as I think. Will unironically like cat photos. Socialist-y I guess.

Possibly of interest both to people who think of the 80s like I used to think of the 60s, and to people condemned to live through it.

🚨 ALARM 🚨

Part two of our four-part Kids on Bikes Halloween special is OUT NOW 🎲🚲🎃

This week, the gang get drawn deeper into a house full of mysterious paintings (and we do some unexpected 80s nostalgia)

Although I think technically "Monsterheart" is the name of the designer and the actual game is called "Monsterhearts Monster"
kierongillen.bsky.social
For a group to play Monsterhearts, the players have to accept that the Turn Someone On move will as likely as not make their characters feel attraction to more than one gender. It requires Bi-in.

Effectively: "When you succeed on a roll, assume you keep succeeding until the situation significantly changes". Sneaking across a courtyard by flitting from pile of crates to pile of crates? You keep on sneaking until there are no more crates to use. Let it ride until the approach doesn't work.

Geology are threatened by redundancies so they've brought rocks to the picket line today. Also, a dinosaur.

People are always rightly pointing out that Warhammer contributes more to the British economy than the fishing industry, but the problem is that there just aren't very many folk songs about Warhammer

Been watching the development on this on and off for a while. I normally get a severe allergic reaction to vampire stuff but this one piques my interest. There's a demo as part of next fest, might be worth your giving it a look?

Tempted to twitch stream it on Wednesday for a laugh.

The Nighthawks demo has arrived!

During Steam Next Fest, seize the night as a modern monster, stepping out of the shadows to build a thriving nightclub empire through fear, seduction, and forbidden supernatural gifts.

Your second life begins tonight!

#fallenlondon I am finally continuing to pursue my Ambition (I am bad at following main quests in general) and spent ten minutes going "Power or Love???" At a question that explicitly told me my answer was not binding. While being stared at by dream snakes. 10/10

To be fair they sound like engaging premises.

The main activity this session was introducing the Union Crawler, setting the campaign up (search an area for black sites belonging to a defunct "mad science" corpo), and then demonstrating why its a bad idea to attack mechs in Power Loaders. I had fun.
wulfboyraff.bsky.social
Ran #SalvageUnion #ttrpg. At the last minute I decided not to run Rainmaker, and instead rip chunks of it off. It's a good adventure, but the maps didn't entirely get the more sandboxy point-crawl feel I was after. So we're in NOT DARTMOOR looking for Smith*Cross*Pride Technologies black R&D sites.
An ordanance survey of Dartmoor that someone has slapped boxes and labels on with gay abandon. Also four waving nerds and other Roll20 paraphernalia.

#ttrpg pitch: Its Nobilis, but all the characters have a katana, an AK47, and a trenchcoat, and it is gothicpunk.

Or, it's Nobilis, but you start in a small frontier castle settlement and have to clear out the caves of chaos.

Just noodling ways to make this game that scares so many easier to run.

I was at the Gathering the first year Renewal ran - it was my second fest LARP and I was increasingly unimpressed - and there was all sorts of rumour going around. My experience was mostly focused on being shot in the eye with an arrow though so I have no real idea what actually went on.

I sometimes, in my grimmer moments, think that the history of UK live roleplaying is mostly written by people who don't like UK live roleplaying. Then I have a Snickers, and stop caring again.

Interesting read.

My honest view is that, no, gaming history isn't important in the slightest. It's a niche of a niche.

But for some of us, it's interesting and enjoyable. And that makes it as worthwhile as any form of leisure activity.
rascal.news
Reshare: Even as TSR and D&D’s early periods receive the gold-standard treatment, there’s much more to the hobby than one game and one company. But are those histories actually important? What is at stake if we forget them?

7 reasons why The Thing (1982) is a Christmas film:

1) snow
2) bearded men concealing surprises
3) compulsory party games
4) introverts shunning group activities
5) digestive issues
6) revellers bursting open to reveal partially assimilated canine lifeforms
7) knitwear

Likewise "Belgians" were the villains at the two Gatherings I accidentally attended in the 90s. Was any of it true? Who knows.
