Good Morning!

I'm a Military Historian very interested in space, politics, humor, war, and art.

I've been obsessed with the design of fictional spacecraft since I can remember and I post daily about a lesser-known ship and artist, usually from Star Trek.

the ICE stuff so far had obviously been awful but ya, it seems mostly almost performative, especially the NG deployments.

the biggest overall effect so far is probably chilling the stream of immigrants and tourists who even WANT to come here. That'll be depressed for decades.

it's also unsustainable, they don't have the numbers to be everywhere at once. folks are just hiding and waiting for them to move on like a locust swarm.

that is essentially what they're accomplishing: they're just suppressing the economy and pissing everyone off in a localized area then moving on.

If you want something positive, I'd say that the current DHS strategy of using excessive force has been extremely counterproductive. Rather than actually detaining people, they're now spending significant time and resources dealing with hostile crowds wherever they go.
