It’s funny that he brings up Shrödinger’s Cat, since it’s a thought experiment and not something that actually happens. Some people argue that quantum physics is just the same—a framework to explain phenomena, not a representation of how things work in reality.

Some folks in my parent's retirement community have been protesting every week since Black Lives Matter. They gather in front of the complex, hold signs, and wave at the folks who honk in support. They're old enough to know what came before.

They'll be one of the locations for the No Kings protest.

George in the fashion office is seriously one of my favorite scenes. I like the subtle bit of the assistant who recognizes him and tries to get his boss's attention, but the guy just brushes him off. That and "Oh, you mean that posh bird who gets everything wrong?"

So, cover of a Gor novel from the 70s, or movie poster for an Italian Conan knock-off movie from the 80s?

This is a poster advertising a perfume by Versace called Eros. It features two bottles of the product on the lower left side, and the right side is taken up with—

Oh, boy. Let me try to give this justice. There’s this big, muscley Dude who is wearing nothing but striped underwear, boots made out of golden ribbons, and a bling-level gold chain around his neck. He’s in a really awkward position—he’s kneeling on one leg, and the other is bent with his foot planted on the ground. His face is very jock-like, with thick brows furrowed as if he’s trying to remember something.

Next to him is a woman who looks like a model for a perfume ad in 1976, wearing a flowing white dress and spike-heeled boots that are also formed from golden ribbons like the dude. One leg is crooked in a very awkward pose with her knee somewhere on the dude’s hip. Her hair is, of course, golden and flowy, swept to the left side by a wind that doesn’t seem to be affecting the dress much.

This is a view of the stage from my seat (I zoomed in, so don’t be impressed) where Sir Paul McCartney is about to play. The stage proper has blue lights shining from behind, putting all the instruments in silhouette. Framing the are two gigantic screens like iPhones for Godzilla. Above the stage is another large screen, welcoming Paul back to the stadium, with the name of the stadium (Allegiant Stadium) above that. The crowd is getting settled and we’re ready for the Knight to play.

This is a very gaudy Christmas display in a Neiman Marcus. There are decorated trees, bowls of ball ornaments, a little Santa, and a great, big polar bear.

MARTA didn’t take as long as I expected, so I decided to skip the train and walk to my gate. If I’d taken it, I would have completely missed out on a marvelous exhibition of Zimbabwean stone sculptures along the way. #SheilaDoesVegas

This is a long passageway that leads from one concourse to another. There are moving walkways on each side. The carpet is a bunch of sine waves in earth-toned colors. But that’s not the important part.

Running down the center of the corridor are a series of carved stone statues by Zimbabwean artists, all of which are stunning. Stylized figures shaped in textures from smoothly polished, to roughly textured, to raw stone. I circled each one, taking them in. It fed my soul and made me glad I chose to walk.

Tommy and I are going to Vegas again! This time so I can see Sir Paul McCartney play a show. I’ll be hashtagging with #SheilaDoesVegas and #TommyTheBear if you want to keep up with things.

This is a picture of Tommy the Bear poking his head out of a carry-on bag. The bag is black with burgundy piping and it fits neatly under an airplane seat.

Tommy is a teddy bear whom I have owned for so long I don’t even remember when I got him. (I got him for Christmas—I’ve seen the pictures, but I don’t recall the event.)

He is a bear with a white face, orange eyes, and a little red dot for a nose. His ears and limbs are black. He’s wearing an orange felt jacket with a white button that my mother made for him. Future alt-tags will describe him in a little less detail.
