Nothing. Living in this world is a *slog*. Nothing notably bad happens. There are always weird things creeping down from the mountains and vampirists lurking in the shadows. Maybe a town like Falmere gets devoured in a landslide, but, grim as it may seem, no one bats an eye.
Heya, #NovemberWorldbuilders! It's the last day of our HISTORY week. Tell me something about the more recent history of your world. What's something important that happened in the last 20 years or so from when your story takes place? Perhaps something that sets off the inciting incident

Beware these wise and terrible words😔
Härnäst på tur i gästmånaden av TrollkarlsTorsdag är @wizardhill.bsky.social som kommer med ett VMA:
"THE DANGERS OF UNREGULATED FIRE SORCERY: there's not enough necromancy in the seven realms to bring back this poor wizard's cheese toasty. Maintain your wards!"

Kloka ord, mycket kloka ord.

Carloman corners this reporter after they catch a glimpse of something That Should Not Be, because very little escapes a dude who calls down gods for aid on the regular, and has to get The Talk from a very mad and concerned wizard. Said reporter lives out their life in a Silverden monastery.
Tell me more about your #AwesomeCharacters

A reporter from a scandal magazine has been secretly following your characters around.

What shocking headlines could they publish about them?

Did they have to take their actions out of context to get there?

I've mentioned it enough, so now here's exactly what the Coming of the Mountains was: in a time just long enough past, a series of MASSIVE earthquakes caused continent-scale catastrophe. Hamlets and cities wiped out. These quakes caused rivers to break their banks,

Greetings, #NovemberWorldbuilders. Tell me about a legendary event that happened in your world's history. Perhaps a terrific cataclysm, or maybe something good like the growth of an amazing tree or the greatest rock concert ever. Something that the storytellers in your world love to sing about.

Shadows & Sorcery: subtle beauty, magical wonder, golly gee gosh wizards

Also Shadows & Sorcery: we stole fire from the gods and they burnt the world to cinders / the universe is evil and hates you / psychological torture sorcery war crimes
Shadows & Sorcery is cool because you can't effectively slap a YA or MG or adult label on 750+ flash fiction stories. They might not feature any sex, but I don't particularly fuck around with the gore or horror, and I don't see some of the weirder three-parter stories being a hit with the kids.

Everyone and their dog has ideas on what the mountains are, why they rose up, and just what's inside them. The crimson theurgy, the dominant religion that spread in their wake, doesn't have an official statement. Not even the vampirists even really know.
#NovemberWorldbuilders Heya, friends! In your fictional world, are there any lies or conspiracy theories (or maybe just incorrect beliefs) about a historical event? Is the government of your (fictional) world hiding anything? Please keep it fictional! No real-world stuff here, please!

Maybe one day I'll write a long, rambling, incoherent, seething article that will get me straight up killed about why I find the analysis of all genre fiction as metaphor contrived, and the inherent worth placed upon that over any other artistic intent as narrow-minded and weirdly reductive

#CreativesConcourse
Sepp from The Path of Poison is my youngest character at 18-19 years old. His youth is NOT a benefit: the mental faculties of an adult, but no experience. No idea where to go or what to do. Good kid, but makes rash decisions with only a natural reticence to stem the tide.
For this week's #CreativesConcourse, we discuss our heroes!

Who is the youngest protagonist in your main cast, or who's your youngest MC if you have multiple WIPs? Does their youth serve as more of a benefit or hindrance to accomplishing their goals?

My answer below, as usual!

Never particularly been a fan of the concept of "magitech" because all the examples I've come across are just "sci-fi powered by electricity with a weird name", instead of "my toaster operates on the principles of sacred geometry and bound demons project illusions from behind my tv"

Nightreign DLC looks diabolical with the SotE stuff

Scholar (OF THE FIRST SIN???) looks very cool

Since the base characters were meant to fulfil party roles and not builds, I'm wondering what this chap will be--magic support?

Just be anything but Dragon's Dogma 2's Trickster and we're golden

Remember our joy pop-up? It’s going to keep popping. We’re permanently opening subs for flashes of joy (well, as permanent as anything, which is not very but you get the idea). If we love it and it’s joyful we’ll add it to the issue. Like a little library of joy.

-Possesses unique abilities and knowledge
-Wages a one man war against a secret enemy
Yep, Carloman, everyone's kindly grandpa who tips waitstaff 400%, is a vigilante.

I think a good vigilante character has to, on some level, be a good person, but good =/= nice.
Happy Trope Tuesday! Today's topic: Vigilantes

Is this a trope you like? Have you written it? Where have you seen it done well?

Where have you seen it done bad? Do you just absolutely hate it?

All of them💀 World was a mess of competing petty kingdoms, breakaway states, wannabe empires, there was literally always something going on. Certain old chronicles in private collections muse that the mountains were called up by all the shed blood...
#NovemberWorldbuilders Does your fictional world have any wars in its history that are now over? What was the conflict about? What were the repercussions of it?
