The red wizard Carloman is the red wizard because he wears red robes. It has a practical magical purpose. The red symbolizes heat, blood, fire, life, passion. In his world, thought, feeling, intent, perception, and other abstracts have tangible existence, so the red helps in his spellwork.

Shadows & Sorcery is cool because you can't effectively slap a YA or MG or adult label on 750+ flash fiction stories. They might not feature any sex, but I don't particularly fuck around with the gore or horror, and I don't see some of the weirder three-parter stories being a hit with the kids.
