One of the things I think drives this is the idea that "Everyone already knows that trump/Vance etc lie all the time so it's not new info it won't change any minds"

But this ignores that someone knowing something doesn't mean it is currently salient to them. And media have a role in what is salient

Honestly I'm not even sure it's really the therapeutic nature of it which is the draw for people. There's also love languages and Myers brigs tests and all that shit, I think it's more the way it provides some kind of pattern which people can use to navigate...
