not to use CBT, but i try to stop myself from saying “no one masks anymore,” because that’s technically a cognitive distortion because there ARE people masking. there’s not enough people masking to completely stop the spread or eradicate airborne viruses, but chains of transmission are being broken.

Two are one, life and death,

like hands joined together,
like the end and the way.

everyone on instagram and tiktok could’ve been making art films and experimenting with movement, but GRWM sells products far more easily.

we could’ve created community-building networks, but we chose dunking on each other.
damn, i miss when we were all still figuring out what “content” is. we’ve all decided on what content “is” and “is not,” and we made the wrong decision.

Re that survey on attitudes to masking someone said I should do…

“What do you think of masks in hospital?”

I’d like to ask

“If I could stop you from catching flu, COVID, RSV, and many other infections that we breathe in, would you want me to?”

From 2020 we were drawn into culture wars. Fact vs opinion.
Covid is airborne is a science fact.
Wearing a respirator for airborne transmission is a science fact.
Covid being 49% asymptomatic is a fact. Why are facts up for debate?

Brutal but effective public health messaging from New York Public Health.

The CDC is compromised. They’re no longer a reliable source of information.

They push anti-vaxx & anti-science grift.

Get your vaccines. Wear a respirator. Clean the air

Get public health advice from experts, not RFK Jr

Indiana’s Senate has voted AGAINST the GOP gerrymander that’d have locked in a 9-0 map.

This keeps the 7-2 map in place, saving two Democratic seats heading into 2026.

The vote failed big, 19/31.

The MAJORITY of the GOP senators opposed it!

healthcare is collapsing.
hang on to the health you and your community has before it’s too late.

if an old friend or loved one wants to meet up with airborne precautions in place (i.e. masking and/or testing), your emotional reaction is valid, but not that person’s fault.

please understand this loved one WANTS a relationship w/ you. and they’re trusting you with this vulnerable convo 1/3

Sometimes I think white peoples obsession with rewhitening media is a form of self-soothing, like sucking your thumb. if all the lantern jawed manly white men and submissive blonde thin women return, things will be okay again and the world won’t be so scary again.
Sometimes it’s just racism.
Hiring a Black woman: “identity politics”

Hiring a white guy for a job that has been held disproportionately by white guys, because he is a white guy: “subverting” identity politics!

(The author of this sentence is Dylan Byers; you will not be surprised to learn that he is a white guy.)

i’m thinking of Imani Barbrin’s discussion about how all marginalized groups have the label of disability wielded against them and that it’s probably the case that the first marginalized group to be targeted w/ ai is disabled folks like it’s some accessibility tool.
Keep an eye out!

As AI winds down while VC money runs out, they're going to continue following the same failed playbook Web3 used. They'll redirect the focus from big money (companies, entrepreneurs) to marginalized communities.

Prepare to see AI re-spun as a tool to empower women/POC/LGBT.
