Nice to meet you!

Is it convenient to play UU using it?
Thanks. I wanted to experience it vanilla the first time, and getting used to the controls wasn't a big issue. I know people recommend the UU Portable, but maybe that's for the second playthrough!

One of the greatest and most influential games of all time.

For immersive sim fans who are understandably never going to play Ultima Underworld due to its janky tech but are still interested in the genre's origin, this a pretty good long review/retrospective that give you a lot of perspective on it without having to play it.

I didn't get to experience it upon release. I started playing a couple of days ago for the first time via GOG (I also own the original box, as I love it) and I'm blown away by how good it is. Having so much fun noting things down and exploring, without the game telling me what to do every 5 seconds.
Chris Sawyer, is that you? This will be a priority play, despite my huge backlog. Beautiful stuff.
This is accurate. Doesn't help I'm in my retro phase and keep replaying things.
This screenshot tells me I need to replay it.
So, did you try OpenRCT2? It's dangerously good.
I never played Pop1 or Pop2, but absolutely love Pop3 to this day.
God, that OW wine commercial footage never fails to make me chuckle.
Great update! Time to die even faster. *launches Q*
One of my favourite games of all time. I own a big box copy and replay it every few years. The immersion is amazing and I wish it were more successful - could've been so much more influential. Such a brave endeavour (real-time etc.) and a true labour of love by @jmechner.bsky.social & the team.
I remember I had no idea what the goal was, but that probably even enhanced the experience. This and The Great Escape were the most atmospheric C64 games to me.
There are fan mods/engines that let you play enhanced Theme Hospital (like someone already mentioned), Syndicate Wars, Dungeon Keeper and Populous: The Beginning. Wish there was one for Theme Park too!
Just got this - time to oversalt some fries. I'm clearly in my Bullfrog nostalgia phase.

Just read it, good stuff. The website logo is on point too.

I had no idea what the objective was in that game. That probably made it even more immersive. Another game that gave me a very similar feeling, although in a completely different setting, was The Great Escape.
God, Skool Daze was such an immersive game for me as a kid. Hard to believe now. I think retro games really developed our imagination. If I were a parent I'd try to get my kids interested in vintage games first, before their friends showed them the latest titles with path tracing.
Just grabbed this gem off ebay <3
Just commenting under a random post to say I love your nickname.

One of my best gaming memories as I used to play it with my mom on C64 as a kid. One of the very few things we bonded over. When someone mentions BB, the music immediately starts playing in my head.

I forgot how great this game is.

Currently replaying it via the Multiverse Launcher.

Loving the sphere concept and the terraforming, plus the atmosphere is special and and the shaman is so well done (gotta love the follower bowing animations). One of my Bullfrog favourites.
Same. I'll rewatch the first one and listen to the NiN OST separately.
