When you spend half your game talking about how moral and righteous you are and the other half actively insulting your audience's intelligence with trite one-dimensional morality and smug repetitive Frank Miller dialog that never actually says anything it doesn't start a cultural revolution?

Y'know that meme about how no matter what you start Skyrim as you'll eventually be a stealthy archer because they're so much better than every other option

Pretty much the same thing in Morrowind but it's just mages in general. So much hilarious gamebreaking potential

A studio that is so big that a game that probably had a budget around $30 million was "not supposed to be big!" Please stop calling this indie lol. When even their cute self deprecating coyness is talking about millions, it ain't indie.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Team Admits the RPG's Success Has Surprised Them — 'It Was Not Supposed to Be Big' - IGN
The director of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 always believed the turned-based RPG was going to be "cool," but had no idea it would get this "big."

"Director's Cut" is the gaming way of saying "we're selling you a game that's not even a decade old yet at full price again"

"What if I told you there was a simple, safe, & effective treatment to vastly reduce the risk of suicidal ideation among one of the most vulnerable group of children & teens? You'd be pretty stoked, I would think."
"[G]ender-affirming care saves lives."

"Suicidality scores among the [study's] patients who provided responses dropped by over 67 percent."

"[O]f the hundreds of patients who started hormone therapy, only seven discontinued their treatment."

Twenty-seven states in the US ban gender-affirming treatments for trans youth, including hormone therapy.

I remember someone pointing out how AI generation is the same as loot boxes and gacha: you keep “rolling” prompts until something usable is generated

There’s a reason those genres have idle/simple/skippable gameplay models: players only care about rewards

Would love to see a ludopathy study of AI
not beating the “AI art is lazy” allegations

That quest in Morrowind where your reward is a cuirass and helmet worth a combined 10,000 gold or a shitty belt worth 33

Like, even if you have no intention of using medium armor why would you ever choose the belt

Ah the Catch-22 of "objective" game reviewers

"You can't fairly criticize it until you've completed the whole game."
"I did. It sucked."
"Then why'd you finish it HUR HURR ADURRRRR"

"Play Cyberpunk, it's so good!"

(Clunky, super slow melee combat, bullet-spongey gunplay, that same smarmy back-and-forth I-think-I'm-funny dialog that permeates the whole fucking internet now)

Incidentally shit like this is the reason I didn't buy Yakuza 8 and have no plans to buy another Sega/Atlus RPG in the future
Companies can't be THIS stupid...can they?

Sega has a PROVEN RECORD of re-releasing titles with everything a year or so after launch. Of course some people are going to wait.

Persona 5 and SMT 5 are PERFECT examples.

Maybe they should stop stripping content off the disc to sell to you later at premium prices too and ruining the pacing of their games so they can sell you "quick leveling" DLC

Just kidding they'll never stop doing that

I almost always go for Performance mode cuz honestly the graphical quality difference generally isn't that noticeable and I much prefer a smooth framerate to graphical fidelity

i have never been nostalgic for the past before i was born and reading history only reinforces this. running water is good. not losing children to preventable diseases is good. human beings not being property is good.

N64 version
November 28, 2025 at 5:33 AM
Simcity 64 is actually a really interesting version of 2000. Has full 3D graphics and even a unique street view mode where you can zoom down and interact with citizens to get tips.

Sadly it's never been rereleased and is only available on the 64DD, a woefully underutilized peripheral.
