Another soul weighed down by gravity. I love to think about RPGs and manga. I have a background in political sociology, but I try to keep that off the tl. Here’s to hoping for a better world. (He/him) 🇩🇰

well, I’m at the nightmare of mensis and my highest stat is at 37, so maybe I’m just underleveled

I’m doing a second NG run and most of the standard bosses have been a cakewalk the second time around, but the hidden bosses just keep oneshotting me.

Best part of the PS5 is that it plays PS4 games and has an SSD.

It was Ebrietas, but apparently she’s considered something of a superboss?

Not just are everyone’s an expert on the very clear-cut, uncomplicated topic of ancient folklore and belief, they’re also levelheaded and mature about it ☺️

Idk what it is about Greek myth that turns people into the most annoying type of nerd.

Apparently there’s a large crowd of people complaining about Circe’s design not being “faithful” and I want claw my eyes out.
vkal.bsky.social
This type of criticism reminds me of when people would complain about the mythological depictions in games like Odin Sphere or Valkyrie Profile.

“Uhm akshually Odin didn’t have a healthbar and three phases in the original texts 🤓”

No shit, this isn’t a documentary.

Hades II demeans the mystery and grandeur of myth through its shallow writing and unserious tone, writes @gracemachine.bsky.social. www.endlessmode.com/video-games/...

Having some trouble with the optional bosses in Bloodborne and looking them up online, people are stating suggested level-ranges of 70-90.

And I’m still in 60s, so either people exaggerate or I’ve been playing this game severely underleveled.

Isn't it awesome that democracy is being set on fire so someone who thinks One Piece is Jesus can inherit everything? Fantastic job, universe.

thiel, man, what the fuck are you talking about

He describes the plot of Watchmen, a 1986 graphic novel involving superheroes grappling with moral questions about humanity against the backdrop of impending nuclear war:

The antihero Ozymandias, the antichrist-type figure, is sort of an early-modern person. He believes this will be a timeless and eternal solution – eternal world peace. Moore is sort of a late-modern. In early modernity, you have ideal solutions, ‘perfect’ solutions to calculus. In late modernity, things are sort of probabilistic. And at some point, he asks Dr Manhattan whether the world government is going to last. And he says that ‘nothing lasts forever.’ So you embrace the antichrist and it still doesn’t work.

Thiel later finds biblical meaning in the manga One Piece, discussing how he believes it represents a future where an antichrist-like one-world government has repressed science. He believes that the hero, Monkey D Luffy, represents a Christlike figure.

In One Piece, you are set in a fantasy world, again sort of an alternate earth, but it’s 800 years into the reign of this one-world state. Which, as the story unfolds, gradually gets darker and darker. You sort of realize, in my interpretation, who runs the world and it’s something like the antichrist. There’s Luffy, a pirate who wears a red straw hat, sort of like Christ’s crown of thorns. And then towards the end of the story, transforms into a figure who resembles Christ in Revelation.

Thiel, along with a researcher and writer at Thiel Capital, explored these ideas at greater length in an essay for the religious journal First Things earlier this month.

I know this is a minor thing in the grand scheme of things, but the fucking hat isn't even red.

I'm back to looking forward to getting around to it.

The most annoying thing about its popularity is that I'll have to wait longer for a discount.

I hate whenever I realize that my criticism of a piece of media is actually incredibly common and not at all the insightful gift to my peers I thought it was.

It makes me feel so vain.

my gf is the funniest person in the world, but everyone around her think she’s a very serious person, so when she deliver a funny line everyone just nod and go “interesting point, I had thought of that”.

Ironically, this is the height of comedy for me
