Good morning 🌅!
It is getting dark and there are wolves abroad. It is wise to band together at a time like this.

Well, #usa, it was nice knowing you...
Jeez. All tourists - including those from Britain - will have to undergo a social media screening before being allowed entry into the US under new plans being considered by the country's border force

US plans to start checking all tourists' social media
The potential social media mandate being proposed by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) would apply to anyone visiting, whether they require a visa or not.

At the end of the day, don’t we all just want to read a riveting mystery novel, drink endless cups of tea, and eat a multitude of croissants in a quaint château in the French countryside during a snowstorm?

Sam Bates, known as SMUG, Australian-born, realistic street #artist. This one is in Glasgow.

In the comments, I've included different views of this piece, as well as some other pieces of this hyper-realistic street artist.

Wow, in the year of my birth I might have been a tory!
This vision of the Tory Party no-longer exists. It barely exists in the Labour Party. Where is the case for 'profit for a purpose'? Where is the implacable opposition to inequality in the two old parties? It will be the task of the 'minor parties' in the years ahead to reassemble this perspective.

Here is an actually useful use for #AI:
AI is already useful for me on note-taking: Transcript services have saved me days of work, being able to photograph a page & copy-paste the text is similarly very useful. The bit of work I would most like to hand over though is the arrangement of notes - getting them in order.

Amazing image of Wells Cathedral through one day:
✨ A few years back I stood outside Wells Cathedral for a full day and photographed the impact of the light on the front facade. I was amazed at the outcome - at how a single entity could morph and change under the changing light. 🌅 #thread

1. Some good news at last. This week’s column is about the amazing thing a couple of us stumbled into three years ago, which we’ve now developed into a global research programme. It doesn’t change everything, of course, but it could help change quite a lot. + 🧵 www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
Over a pint in Oxford, we may have stumbled upon the holy grail of agriculture | George Monbiot
I knew that a revolution in our understanding of soil could change the world. Then came a eureka moment – and the birth of the Earth Rover Program, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

Amazon won't be delivering lots of packages by drone in the UK. Partly because it's a dumb idea but also because any drone big enough to carry a parcel is big enough to carry an explosive parcel. And distinguishing between Amazon and Russia could be hard.

Can I let you in on a little secret?

Billionaire philanthropy isn’t charity.

It’s PR to distract you from low wages, labor exploitation, and a tax system that’s rigged for the rich.

Loss of basic skills is a real issue...
Me and my wife are in our thirties and neither of us know how to use a tin opener properly. We only buy tins if they have the ring pull on top.

239 years ago, on the 30th of November 1786, the Grand Duchy of Tuscany became the first modern state to abolish the death penalty. Grand Duke Leopold I, who was influenced in the decision by the book 'On Crimes and Punishments', would later become Holy Roman Emperor Leopold II. #otd #history 🗃️
